I feel privileged and honoured to share that Dhokra Craft, supported by Vedanta Limited - Aluminium Business and nurtured under Project Adikala, was the only artform to be chosen to represent Kalahandi at the National level Pallishree Mela in Puri during the Rath Yatra from 6-15th July, 2024.Organized by ORMAS (Odisha Rural Development and Marketing Society), this selection highlights the cultural richness of Dhokra Craft from Kankeri, showcasing its significance on a national stage. This achievement underscores how dedicated efforts to preserve and promote indigenous artforms can not only provide sustainable livelihoods but also bring well-deserved recognition to remote villages like Kankeri. Nestled deep in the woods, these communities often face challenges in accessing even the most basic necessities. Vedanta's Project Adikala is instrumental in empowering these artisans, ensuring the preservation of their local heritage. This initiative serves as a testament for future generations, encouraging them to cherish their cultural roots and take pride in their ancestral legacy!
