Safeguarding lives and livelihoods by turning early warning into early action! 🚨⏳ A warning is only as powerful as the action it sparks. That’s why Reliance Foundation and the United Nations in India are bringing together experts, communities, and decision-makers to bridge the gap between early warnings and timely response. Through a series of convenings, we are strengthening systems that ensure alerts don’t just inform but empower people to act, saving lives, livelihoods, and entire communities. 🏠💪🌱 In November 2024, Reliance Foundation and United Nations in India brought together stakeholders in Odisha for a convening on "Early Warning to Early Action." The discussions centred on multi-hazard, multi-stakeholder strategies for disaster preparedness, drawing insights from India and the Global South. This year, we are hosting the Bhuj Convening on “Early Warning and Early Action”, showcasing advancements from global to local levels in early warning and anticipatory action. In a multi-hazard context, the convening will explore the challenges posed by both slow- and rapid-onset disasters, aligning with the global EW4ALL goal and mapping the path forward. Empowered by opportunity, driven by purpose! Dhiksha Shrivruthi G, a Reliance Foundation Undergraduate Scholar from the 2022- 23 is studying at the Rajalakshmi Engineering College’s Department of Computer Science and Business Systems. Her story is a testament to the power of opportunity. Her journey is one of resilience, determination, and commitment to making a difference. From a young age, Dhiksha sought to push beyond boundaries, but financial constraints often stood in her way. Reliance Foundation Undergraduate Scholarships became the turning point she needed—a lifeline that provided financial support and access to resources that once seemed out of reach. With the scholarship, she was able to invest in a laptop, an important tool that accelerated her technical learning. Now in her pre-final year, Dhisksha has also gained valuable insights through expert talk sessions and webinars conducted by Reliance Foundation exclusively for Reliance Foundation Scholars. One such session paved the way for her where she developed a keen interest in business analysis — a milestone that shaped her professional journey. Dhiksha’s journey as a Reliance Foundation Scholar instilled in her a deep sense of gratitude and a commitment to giving back. The Reliance Foundation Scholar engagement platform opened doors for Dhiksha to mentor other scholars and develop a passion to guide others paving her way to serve as Secretary of a student-run body that encourages ideas and works towards product development. She has guided over 2,000 students, helping them access similar opportunities. Through self-discovery and thought-provoking AI webinars, she found her true calling as a problem solver. Now, she aspires to pursue Master’s degree in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, focusing her research on solving pressing challenges in India with scalable and impactful technological solutions. For Dhiksha, Reliance Foundation Scholarships has reshaped her vision and reinforced a simple belief—success matters most when it uplifts others. To aspiring scholars, she urges: seize opportunities, persevere, and give back.
