ARCHABOUT

Archabout was founded in 2008 by a collective of architects and scenographers with a common ground of being collaborators of prof. Gianfranco Moneta. They co-founded the Cultural Association Archabout as a laboratory of studies and production transnational and transdisciplinary, based in Rome, Italy. The aim was to continue thirty years of architectural design theory and practice of prof. Gianfranco Moneta at the University of Rome La Sapienza, towards the challenges of our contemporary world. Arch@bout longstanding research: a multidisciplinary approach that blends together Architecture, Urbanism, Performance and Digital Space. Our Theoretical Framework and professional experience shared through the innovative AASOS Training Program. The design activity is always an action of use/reuse of the place and its components, those present, at the moment of the activity, and those undertrack, no longer visible but still conditioning the present state of the place. The place is characterised by present and past modes of use, such modes of use can be summarised in Models of Use/Reuse, typical abstractions of the incessant process of transformation: models as "Form of Transformations". The models are characterised by the Parts (Elements), understood as territorial organisms in themselves, interconnected by the system of connecting relationships. In order to grasp the dynamics of the transformations of the territory object of the project action we carry out a diachronic reading, and then a synchronic one to grasp the typical natural and anthropic elements, their degree of permanence through the process of use re-use transformation, in order to use these elements as basic materials of the project. The place is therefore interpreted as a landscape, understood as a structure, defined, according to the principles of Landscape Ecology, as "a system of interacting ecosystems in a given environment".
