The Foundation Euro-Mediterranean Centre on Climate Change (CMCC) is a research centre on climate science and policy
Chi siamo
The Foundation Euro-Mediterranean Centre on Climate Change (CMCC) is a research centre on climate science and policy. The CMCC: - Integrates all studies on climate change and adaptation/mitigation policies - Promotes collaboration and synergy with international organisations, policy makers, and industry - Provides technical-scientific support to the institutions involved in the negotiation and international cooperation activities. CMCC produces thorough studies regarding climate variability, causes, and consequences, through the development of high-resolution simulations based on global models of Earth systems and regional models, with a particular focus on the Mediterranean area. CMCC's research assures the maintenance of highly reliable products and instruments, which are made available to the scientific community and to further studies on climate science and climate change impacts. CMCC maintains, checks, and develops numeric model simulations, which are used to study the effects of climate change on the following areas: economy, agriculture, coastal areas, marine and land environment, hydrogeological cycle, carbon cycle and human health.

Don't miss the upcoming event on the #CMCCTalks series ⤵️ "Advancing urban modelling in regional atmospheric models: insights, challenges and applications" 📅 24 March 2025, 12:00 CET 🎙️ Speaker: Angelo Campanale – CMCC 🎙️ Moderator: Jeremy Pal – CMCC As urban areas continue to expand and global temperatures rise, understanding the complex interactions between cities and the atmosphere is critical. Regional atmospheric models incorporating urban parameterizations play a crucial role in addressing urban climate challenges, particularly in predicting and mitigating the effects of extreme heat, air pollution, and urban heat islands (UHI). By integrating detailed urban processes into high resolution climate simulations, we can enhance our ability to assess urban climate risks and develop effective adaptation strategies. ➡️ Register now to attend: https://ow.ly/NTFy50V49RQ

Join us on April 9, 2025 for the Adaptation AGORA webinar "Citizen engagement in climate adaptation processes: lessons learned from Adaptation AGORA and CLIMAS’ experiences" #CitizenEngagement is one of the key factors to ensure successful climate change risk adaptation strategies and plans, however decision-makers and practitioners often find it difficult to truly generate an interest and proactive participation from the individuals living in their regions. Two Horizon Europe projects, CLIMAS and Adaptation AGORA have been focusing on implementing specific frameworks and methodologies to generate greater interest, engagement and deliver co-creation, co-production, co-design and co-implementation of climate change adaptation processes.
