Cycling wear pioneers Rapha faced issues with a monolithic commerce system that was hindering their growth and efficiency. Here’s how we tackled these problems together: 🔓 Unlocking Scalability: Their legacy Hybris platform couldn't keep up with Rapha’s growth. We designed a strategic roadmap to transition to a flexible, composable tech stack, greatly enhancing scalability and reducing maintenance costs. 🌟 Improving Team Agility: Working closely with their in-house engineering team, we integrated a Dual Track Agile approach which accelerated development and delivered user-focused solutions more effectively. 🧠 Researching Best Practices: Some user flows were causing friction. As part of an extensive checkout audit, we researched key UX enhancements that would create a more engaging and conversion-friendly platform. You can find all the details in the full case study: https://lnkd.in/ev_mZvcm The Tech Stack: ▶ CMS - Contentful ▶ eCommerce - Commerce Layer ▶ Search - Algolia ▶ ERP - Business Central ▶ DAM - Cloudinary ▶ Payments - Adyen ▶ CRM & CDP - Bloomreach #eCommerce #ComposableArchitecture #UXDesign #eCommerceCaseStudy

What is composable commerce? As Filippo Conforti explains in this article, Composable is an approach to building your ecommerce architecture or #ecosystem where you select the #bestofbreed applications and you integrate them to work together. As shown in the picture below some of the essential elements of an ecommerce architecture include a Content Management System (#CMS), a Product Information Management System (#PIM), an ecommerce engine, an Order Management System (#OMS), a search application, a Content Delivery Network (#CDN). These applications can be integrated directly via #API directly or using another piece software specialising in integrating applications: a #middleware. In large organizations it's always necessary to integrate several different software solutions in order to gain or maintain a competitive advantage, for example by adopting innovative solutions that are not present in the ecommerce platforms. Some examples could be an #AI platform for #SEO Optimization, and Identity Management Solution (#IDM) or a Customer Data Platform (#CDP). When does it make sense to add a Buy Now button to your digital experience? Take a look at Filippo Conforti's most recent post on Commerce for Devs. A Buy Now button enables customers to check out directly from a product page with options like Google Pay and Apple Pay. But what if a customer wants to buy two or three products? Does a Buy Now button really help? Check your order history for the average number of line items per order. When it's greater than two, you might conclude that your customers typically buy more items within the same shopping session. In that case, a shopping cart is a good option. But, if the average number is closer to one, you can accelerate the shopping experience for most of your customers, and the impact will be limited on those who buy more stuff. Need more evidence? Run an A/B test, swapping the Add to Cart button for a Buy Now button on a subset of your site PDPs and measure what happens. It's easy and definitely worth it. https://lnkd.in/daMwbrpP

    Buy now.

    Buy now.

Commerce Layer's Alessandro Canessa recently sat down with Kailin Noivo, the co-founder of Noibu, to discuss Developer Relations, micro frontends (MFEs), and MACH principles. We're posting the transcript of a long-ish answer from Alex when he was asked what is a "micro frontend". The answer illustrates how we think about MFEs and why we built them. Alex will continue to expound on this topic, so dive in to get a sense of where he is headed from a thought leadership perspective: "To understand micro frontends, you need to understand a bit of microservices as well, because that's where the idea came from. The micro frontend approach comes from the idea of a single responsibility principle applied to both the frontend [of the digital experience], and the workflow of teams. They come from the same principle as microservices, where every service is responsible for a single thing only. There is such a thing as a monolithic frontend, and that's what micro frontends are trying to eliminate. It's not about size, micro doesn't mean it's a small frontend. It means it's an independent piece of releasable functionality. It could be a user journey, or just a part of it. But MFEs are released independently. "Commerce Layer has developed web components, React components, and hosted applications, which are abstractions of our API that reduce the time to market when implementing a commerce website. A micro frontend could be something simple like the price of a SKU, the ability to add a SKU to a basket, or to buy something. Everything is releasable and independent. We even built hosted micro frontend applications like checkout, cart, my account, and micro stores. You can have these independent pieces of an application that, in this case, could be the checkout that your team can implement, fork, rebuild, and then deploy." 👇 Listen to all 17 minutes of the goodness from Alex below.
