Chi siamo
Founded in 2005 by Microsoft Research and The University of Trento and now based in Rovereto (TN), COSBI represents an almost unique research centre which exploits a comprehensive systems biology pipeline starting from the integration of experimental data with knowledge extraction and the identification of biomarker signatures, to network/pathway analysis and modeling and simulation. Based on the key drivers in the relevant scientific and business sectors, COSBI main pillars are the Development of Novel Computational Tools and their application to Systems Pharmacology and Systems Nutrition. COSBI partners with academic and non-academic research centres, pharma, food and biotech companies to promote personalized medicine and nutrition.

What happens during the first year of a #PhD, Alex De Nardi? Alex is working on integrating the prognostic value of #neurofilament with other disease-specific #biomarkers in #ALS (Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis), check out the timeline of his progress in little more than one year! And we also have the pleasure to welcome two new #PhD entries within COSBI: Elisa Pettinà and Martina Chiesa, our best wishes for a fruitful and enjoyable work! Great Jo-Anne Wilson, PhD!
Thrilled to announce our new preprint! We have provided strong scientific support for targeting mTORC1 in fibrosis. https://lnkd.in/d3u89nWe Particularly excited by the Scissor analysis where we managed to map our bulk RNA-seq from CRISPR/Cas9 knockouts to single cell RNA-seq datasets. Lots of UMAPs! Particularly interesting for those curious about fibroblast subtypes… We've also included interactive data tables so you can check out your favourite genes. Thank you in particular to my co-first author Rachel Walters. Thank you so much to the dream team Manuela Platé, Delphine Guillotin Moritz and of course Rachel Chambers. Thank you also to Silvia Parolo and Naftali Kaminski for providing technical support with the computational analysis. Thank you to UCL Birkbeck MRC DTP Doctoral Training Programme, Rosetrees and others for funding. Please note this is a preprint and has not yet been fully peer reviewed. Sometimes we have to take leave from people we like very much, their choices turning to alternative goals, and it is always with a laughing and a weeping eye that we let them go. More a laughing one this time, as the goals are great. All the best to you Lorenzo Dasti! Even before starting his #PhD in COSBI, Elio Campanile has created contents: check out "Problems in Mathematical Biophysics", recently published by Springer in a special edition, focusing on broad-based applied mathematical work, including biology. The chapter he has participated in writing is titled “A Scenario-Based Study on Hybrid PDE-ODE Model for Cancer-on-Chip Experiment”, a qualitative study of an extended PDE-ODE hybrid model that reproduces the movement of immune cells towards cancer cells, based on experiments conducted on Cancer-on-Chip by Vacchelli et al. Our compliments! #mathematics #biophysics #cancer To see the book: bit.ly/3zh8eOY

Coming to #FOSBE? COSBI is presenting a poster! Our colleague, Stefano Giampiccolo, il presenting his poster by title “Robust parameter estimation and identifiability analysis with hybrid Neural ODEs in computational biology” explaining the interaction between AI and mathematical modeling to model dynamic systems. FOSBE is taking place in Corfu, Greece, 8-11 September 2024. It is the 10th IFAC INCOM 2024, the International Conference on Foundations of Systems Biology in Engineering. bit.ly/3XbpmgN #AI #modeling #systems #biology #computational #ODEs
