In view of the growing number of flights, the HOPE Horizon Europe project aims to accelerate the reduction of emissions from tube-and-wing aircraft through a 𝗺𝘂𝗹𝘁𝗶-𝗳𝘂𝗲𝗹 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗽𝘂𝗹𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘀𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺 approach. ⛽💧🎯 By combining fuel flexible turbofan engines with a fuel cell driven boundary layer ingesting fan, the novel propulsion system of HOPE promises to minimize emissions and noise pollution in and around airports without negatively impacting cruise emissions. This week we celebrate the end of the graduate internship of Adam Wajs. Adam completed his bachelor’s degree at Delft University of Technology, where he’s also pursuing a master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering. During his internship at Ergon Research, Adam worked in the context of the HOPE Horizon Europe project. In these months, he performed cold and reactive RANS and LES simulations in Ansys Fluent, studying #hydrogen, kerosene and #multifuel #combustion. These investigations allowed him to deepen his knowledge on #gasturbine combustion, supporting the study of an innovative multifuel combustion system meant to contribute to the decarbonisation of the #aviation sector.

On February 6th and 7th, Ergon Research has proudly hosted the HOPE Horizon Europe project consortium in Florence city center. The M24 GA meeting was participated by Delft University of Technology, Chalmers University of Technology, Bauhaus Luftfahrt, Ergon Research, Hit09 Srl and The Manchester Metropolitan University. Halfway through the project, we had the possibility to show and discuss new progresses of our work in WP2 (Combustion experiments and emission analysis) in which we are developing new #CFD combustion models for #multifuel #combustion and a novel aeronautical multifuel combustion system for kero/H2. #aviation #sustainableaviation #fuelcell #combustion #hydrogen

M12 Meeting in Istanbul | 21-22 January Last week, the #TRIATHLON team gathered for the M12 consortium meeting in the vibrant city of Istanbul, hosted by Sabanci University. Over two productive days, we: ✔ Reviewed the progress of the last six months. ✔ Discussed challenges and planned the upcoming activities for the months ahead. ✔ Visited the impressive Sabancı University IMC - Integrated Manufacturing Technologies Research and Application Center, exploring cutting-edge research and innovations To wrap up the meeting, partners enjoyed a tour of the Sabanci University labs, gaining valuable insights into the experimental test rig setup which will be used to test thermal management coupons.
