Let it grow 🌿 The Kö-Bogen II project in Düsseldorf showcases our dedication to architectural innovation, precision, and sustainability. The geometrically complex north and west facades of the cutting-edge building are inclined by up to 40°. Both facades are equipped with steel plant troughs (“planters”) and an integrated irrigation and drainage system throughout and are planted with 2,410 linear metres of hornbeam hedges. The east and the south facades are both glazed with a stick system facade. FRENER & REIFER is responsible for the design-engineering, fabrication and installation of the facades and planters as well as for the building envelopes of the triangular building and the glass pavilion. Moin Moin Hamburg! 🔝 Residential tower FiftyNine is located directly on the Elbe in Hamburg with a direct view of the Elbphilharmonie and forms part of a new city quarter. The tower consists of 16 floors and a penthouse, with commercial space on the ground floor. The building presented unique technical challenges with its 17-story structure and varying cladding on each floor. We excel in managing such technical complexities and ensured the seamless integration of glass facades, sliding doors, stainless steel sun protection blinds, sheet metal cladding, and glass railings. Next Stop: Olympic Train Station 🚄 The Gare Saint-Denis – Pleyel project showcases our expertise in realising sophisticated architectural visions. Designed by Japanese architect Kengo Kuma, it serves the Stade de France and other venues for the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Constructing the station's canopy structures posed challenges due to their complex geometries and diverse materials, demanding precise execution and dedication from our team. Successfully navigating this major project reflects the attention to detail and the commitment that define our work. The station was inaugurated on June 25, 2024. PV Pioneers 🦾 25 years ago we realized a 538m² photovoltaic array for the Bavarian State Bank in Munich as part of the ‘1000 Roofs Programme’. Back then it was one of the first office buildings in Germany to be realized with photovoltaic systems on such a scale. For us, it was also one of the first steps on a journey towards becoming a leading player in creating pioneering building solutions. As we celebrate our 50th anniversary, we reflect on the milestones that define our success. During the past five decades, we've completed over 1,300 projects across 5 continents. Architectural Excellence for the Olympic Games 🏅 The Saint-Denis — Pleyel station in Paris is set to be a pivotal hub for transporting the estimated 2 million visitors expected during the 2024 Olympic Games. We managed the technical design, fabrication, logistics, and installation of the facades, windows, doors, and cladding for this existing metro station upgrade. The Kengo Kuma designed project represents an international collaboration, with our team fabricating all the building envelope components in South Tyrol. Meeting the tight deadline for completion in time for the Olympics posed a significant challenge for our installation team, with team spirit and a united effort winning the day. "During peak times, we had up to 70 installers on site," notes Andreas Reifer, Head of Site Quality Management. Up in the mountains 🗻 The Wildspitzbahn project showcases our capability to deliver architectural precision under challenging conditions. The execution of two cableway stations at Austria's highest ski region demanded intricate design solutions and meticulous construction techniques, particularly for the distinctive steel and aluminium structures and curved glass facades. Overcoming the logistical and environmental hurdles at high altitudes epitomises the level of detail and commitment inherent in our work. We look back with pride on our part in the successful realization of the Coal Drops Yard project. ▫️ The zigzag glass facade follows the shape of the building up to the centre of the freely suspended concrete floor slab, which spans the 15 m between the right and left parts of the building. ▫️ The bridge was suspended from the steel roof structure using 32 solid steel profiles. The “Kissing Point” - the location where the glass facades meet at an acute angle in the middle - stands out as a unique feature. ▫️ The complete zigzag facade is a mullion-free, frameless all-glass construction with silicone joints. All the glazing was developed and produced especially for this project to the specifications and designs of FRENER & REIFER. ▫️ 86 insulating glass panes in various formats were installed. All panes have central supports and custom glass holders to absorb the movements and tolerances of the free-floating connecting bridge. ▫️ Structural sealing of the 10 mm joints was required to compensate for the static stresses of the panes, which are over 3 m high. The silicone joints for all the panes were precisely sealed by hand.
