Glass Waves on Lake Zurich The Swiss Re building in Zurich impresses with its striking wave-shaped glass facade, which is both visually and functionally appealing. Large and small glass waves shape the facade, establishing a connection to the surrounding historical architecture. We completed the 360-ton steel post-and-beam construction and installed the 924 vertically arranged, wave-shaped glass units for the new building on Mythenquai. In total, the undulating glass façade spans 6.475 m², featuring 2.200 linear meters of horizontal transom cladding and 2.600 linear meters of vertical mullion cladding. From office chairs to stadium seats We had a fantastic time at our 50th anniversary event, enjoying an exciting basketball game together at a sold-out SAP Garden in Munich. It was great to be part of the electrifying atmosphere as 11,000 spectators brought the stadium whose facade we created to life. An earlier highlight was visiting the BMW Welt, another great example of the work we’re proud to have accomplished. It was a day full of fun, laughter, team spirit, and a renewed appreciation of what we can achieve together. And of course, a good Bavarian brew in the beer garden was definitely a must! Grand Opening - SAP Garden 🔝   Friday was the day: the new ice hockey and basketball stadium in Munich was officially opened with a big bang. Our colleague Michael J. Purzer was there live with the team of architects from 3XN/GXN. Spectacular staging, top-class hockey teams, delicious food and a great atmosphere . Precision Work on the "Gläserner Fels" Glass installation at the "Gläserner Fels" project on the Loreley Rock, famous in myth and legend, is currently in full swing. This architecturally demanding steel and glass “boulder” construction - located close to the peak of the Loreley - is currently being fitted with more than 100 triangular glass panes, each weighing up to 700 kg. Installing the glass panes in the frame requires great experience and exceptional finesse - the complex geometry of both the steel structure and the glass elements makes millimeter-precise placement and exact sealing of the panes a necessity. A challenging project that – true to the spirit of FRENER & REIFER – demands precision work at every stage: from the detailed design, through the production process, to the fine calibrations required during installation.
