In humanitarian crises such as Afghanistan and Nigeria, where access to essential goods is hindered by conflict, insecurity, and fragile infrastructure, every delay in aid delivery can mean the difference between life and death. Thanks to our partnership with Airlink, Inc., we have been able to overcome these barriers and ensure that critical medical supplies and life-saving goods reach those most in need. In 2024 alone, Airlink has facilitated the transport of over 19,374 kg of cargo for our operations in Afghanistan and Nigeria, generating $115,925 in transport savings. These saved resources have been reinvested to enhance our field operations. Afghanistan: delivering essential healthcare in a fragile health system In Afghanistan, our goal is to improve access to essential healthcare services in a country where conflict and logistical constraints make every intervention a challenge. With Airlink's support, we have been able to: 🔹 Deliver 48 pallets of medical equipment and essential medicines, supporting 135,000 people in Zabul and Kandahar provinces. 🔹 Provide 12 life-saving medicines to remote health facilities, benefiting 98,000 patients, with a focus on reducing maternal and infant mortality. 🔹 Distribute 3,600 clean delivery kits to pregnant women in isolated areas, reducing the risk of neonatal infections and complications during childbirth. Nigeria: addressing a protracted health emergency In northeast Nigeria, conflict has displaced millions of people, significantly increasing the need for healthcare assistance. Through this partnership, we have: 🔹 Transported essential medicines and cold-chain oxytocin, crucial for reducing postpartum hemorrhage. 🔹 Provided healthcare services to 134,000 people, improving access to maternal and child health services and reducing preventable disease-related mortality. These results highlight how collaboration between humanitarian actors and logistics partners can make a tangible difference in the lives of thousands. Together, we can break down the barriers preventing the most vulnerable communities from accessing the aid they need. A special thanks to Airlink for their unwavering support: without their logistics network and commitment, none of this would have been possible.

For years, Syria has been ravaged by conflict, earthquakes, climate crisis and poverty. Human rights violations, abuse and gender-based violence are widespread. In this paper, produced in collaboration with the Danish Refugee Council / Dansk Flygtningehjælp and Oxfam, we explain why it is vital to invest in early recovery programmes that put protection at the forefront of programming. It also includes a series of recommendations to key stakeholders to commit to a more effective and sustainable humanitarian response in Syria. Read more ➡️ https://lnkd.in/dNtxPWHx

They died while helping others. In 2024, a record 356 humanitarians were killed while providing life-saving aid to people in need in some of the world’s most challenging crises. They didn’t sign up for violence—all they wanted was to save lives. How many more deaths will it take before the world acts? Without respect for International Humanitarian Law, countless more lives will be lost. Without protection, the risks for humanitarians will grow. Without accountability, perpetrators will continue to act with impunity. #ActForHumanity Humanitarians are #NotATarget.

A 90-day halt, and possibly longer. On 20 January, immediately after taking office, US President Donald Trump signed an executive order suspending for three months the disbursement of nearly all funds allocated to humanitarian assistance and development programmes. Our General Director, Konstantinos Moschochoritis, analyses the consequences of this decision on the most vulnerable populations, on the Italian magazine VITA non profit. USAID, the United States Agency for International Development, accounts for nearly half of the global spending in the sector. Without its resources, a devastating domino effect is at risk, further exacerbating humanitarian crises worldwide.

INTERSOS fully supports VOICE EU's position on the risks of the US suspension of humanitarian aid. The recent decision to halt new U.S. foreign aid disbursements for a 90-day review period and the “stop work” orders on existing foreign assistance is a devastating blow to crisis-affected populations worldwide. This decision will have a global impact, with dramatic and tragic consequences for vulnerable populations and a strong negative impact on the humanitarian system trying to assist them. https://lnkd.in/dE2Wr35d
