MEI è leader globale nella produzione di macchine per il taglio di lenti ottiche e da sole. Fondata nel 1985 da Stefano Sonzogni e Raffaele Scudeletti, l’azienda si è concentrata da subito nello sviluppo di macchine a controllo numerico di alta qualità ed è entrata negli anni ’90 nel mercato dell’industria ottica con Sphera, fresatrice per lenti solari, arrivando a tutti i maggiori produttori mondiali di occhiali da sole. Nel corso degli anni 2000 il rivoluzionario processo di fresatura, applicato anche al taglio di lenti ottiche, si è imposto sul vecchio concetto di molatura e ha permesso a MEI di diventare il punto di riferimento dei maggiori produttori di lenti quali Carl Zeiss, Essilor, Hoya, Luxottica, Shamir così come dei più importanti laboratori indipendenti americani, europei e asiatici. L’innovativo sistema ha significativamente migliorato la flessibilità, la produttività e l’affidabilità delle macchine, consentendo ai laboratori di intagliare le forme sempre più complesse richieste dall’esigente mercato dell’occhialeria. Seguendo la propria spinta innovatrice MEI ha sviluppato anche processi di carico lenti e di cambio attrezzature automatizzati ed ha allargato la propria gamma con soluzioni adatte anche a piccoli, medi laboratori e negozi. Tutta la produzione avviene in Italia, nella sede di Ponte San Pietro, in provincia di Bergamo. È qui che viene ideata, progettata, realizzata e testata l’intera gamma di prodotti ed è qui che il team di ricerca e sviluppo lavora costantemente per garantire soluzioni sempre all’avanguardia, affidabili e della massima qualità. Dal 2007 MEI ha esteso la propria presenza con sedi aperte a Chicago, Hong Kong e San Paolo capaci di garantire un importante supporto e un punto di riferimento per la clientela di quelle aree.
