In this context, the #MediterraneanDiet embodies the perfect synthesis of tradition and innovation. Since 2020, with my Foundation, I have chosen to invest with conviction in Pollica, supporting its mission and recognizing in the Lands of the Mediterranean Diet a unique and precious heritage, often unexpressed. This territory, which I consider a #LivingLab is a place where innovation, history, and tradition intertwine and where authenticity – now a rare element – has been meticulously preserved. Through LAFA, with an in-depth analysis of lifestyles and eating habits, we are developing an algorithm of longevity and fertility. ⏳ The countdown has officially begun! ⏳ Today at 4:00 PM in Portici, the doors open for the Global Summit "Mediterranean Diet Feeds the Future"! From November 14 to 17, Pollica and Portici will host this extraordinary event, bringing together history and innovation to celebrate the Mediterranean Diet as a model for ecological development. The Mediterranean Diet is a powerful example of harmony between health, the environment, culture, and economy, and we are here to explore its global potential. Since 2020, together with the Future Food Institute Food Institute, we have supported Pollica and its mission to safeguard, enhance, and promote the Mediterranean Diet. 🗣️ Over these days, I will connect the dots and facilitate positive interactions to reveal the full value of this immense heritage. During the summit, alongside Mayor Stefano Pisani, I will have the honor of guiding discussions and connections so that ideas, experiences, and new projects can emerge, highlighting the Mediterranean Diet as a pathway to global well-being, fertility, and longevity. Four days of engagement, science, experts, and projects. Then, we will focus on working with young people, who bring ideas and visions for the future; together, we will create a Manifesto and an Action Plan to bring the Mediterranean Diet into schools and everyday life. And finally, international advocacy efforts that will take us to the United Nations on November 22. The work done in Pollica is invaluable, as it embodies a truly sustainable model of life and development. Today, we celebrate Angelo Vassallo, who first fought for the recognition of the Mediterranean Diet as a UNESCO heritage, and we support the vision and tangible actions of Mayor Stefano Pisani and his community, who bring it to life every day. Beyond #Inclusion: #IntegralEcology as the #Systemic Approach to Nurture #Longevity and Create #Legacy I was thrilled to be back on stage at the Social Enterprise Open Camp 2024 in the vibrant city of Catania (Sicily 🇮🇹) —one of the most impactful communities fostering good worldwide. This year’s theme, "Beyond Inclusion: For a Fair Economy and a Healthy Planet," brought together practitioners, visionaries, and changemakers committed to building a healthier future. My focus? #Food as the connection between ecology, health, and regeneration, central to nurturing people and the planet. On stage, I brought a piece of life with me 🌍💚 , and I got #Pollica and what the ancient knowledge of that land teaches me ... every single element and every encounter, words, values, looks, hands ruined by work. Then, every stone, every seed, and every grain of sand is taken care of by that community. I presented our #IntegralEcology model—a holistic framework inspired by #LaudatoSi’ and put it into practice at our campuses daily. This approach goes beyond theory to fuel regenerative living through #education, #innovation, and #community development initiatives. I’m passionate about promoting regenerative lifestyles, Integral Ecology, and our mantra 👉 Eat Well, Stay Well, and Save the Planet —in everything we do. Meeting young, mission-driven leaders from diverse sectors was truly inspiring; their dedication to reimagining the economy around justice, sustainability, and well-being was a profound reminder of our collective capacity for change. After another insightful World Food Day, it’s time for reflection. Kudos to EIT Food for the ongoing inspiration and for the strong push on #regenerative models—aligned with the European green leadership that has already made its mark with the #GreenDeal. And thanks to FAO for highlighting the vital role of farmers and giving a platform to the youth through the World Food Forum, where our colleagues at Future Food Institute were actively involved! We face a paradox: while we see the rise of longer-living, high-performing humans, our planet continues to suffer, raising constant cries for help. What is the point of progress if the Earth is crumbling beneath us? This week, I felt a severe lack: the absence of #politics - but the good one 😉 …the one that makes things happen! In Rome, the world of innovation was there; there were farmers, youth, Indigenous communities, chefs (never enough), businesses and startups, science, universities, journalists, and activists; it seemed to me that everyone was there, but in my opinion, missing were those who most of all should be exposed to and stimulated by these dynamics because through their decisions they can act with profound impacts on the well-being of the community: those who decide in Brussels how to distribute funds, which can transform agriculture, drive the genuine green turn and affect human health; governments, but above all, #mayors, who are called upon daily to create solutions for the development of territories, were not invited. This absence is symptomatic of a dangerous gap between those who think about innovation and those who must put it into practice. In this article, I reflect on what I’ve learned over the years, especially through our work at the Paideia Campus in #Pollica. It’s no longer enough to discuss sustainability—it's time for regeneration. We must go beyond reducing harm and start healing our planet, because it is a moral imperative. Over the years, I have explored and experimented with great enthusiasm the power of #LivingLabs and how these communities are innovating while navigating complexity. A journey that, by the way, once again allowed us to understand the powerful role of food the gastro-diplomacy 👉 🗞 Today I discuss this on my blog on Medium https://lnkd.in/dx69A4r8 I love seeing the challenges of our time not as obstacles but as opportunities, and running a Living Lab forces you to do this daily. "It's not just about physical spaces or methodologies, but a new way of thinking and acting collectively. An approach that allows us to co-create a more sustainable, ecological, equitable, and prosperous future for all." I talk about international projects like #cities2030, SEEDS Project, SWITCH, and our #livinglab in action in Pollica with the Paideia Campus and in Japan at #Tokyo #kyobashi. I discuss #InclusiveProsperity inspired by Paolo Venturi and #IntegralEcology because our true goal is to generate real impact, and for this, the format or methodology alone is not enough. To be truly effective and transformative, a Living Lab must have a soul and ethics. We’re almost there! In exactly one week, we will kick off TEDxPollica, an event that brings together stories of the land, activism, art, science, technology, food, and passion from near and far. For years, I dreamed of organizing a TEDx in Pollica, but you need the right ingredients and team to make it happen. This TEDx is pure magic, capturing the essence of the mission that drives Paideia Campus. 🤝 The Power of "Casual Collisions" Sometimes, when people meet, it’s like a collision of particles that releases incredible energy. One of these "collisions" gave birth to #TEDxPollica, the result of my connection with Eugenio Russo. Eugenio, born in 2005, is an extraordinary teammate who has brought his passion, curiosity, professionalism, and a remarkable desire to make a difference to the project. After enthusiastically participating in our #RegenerAction program, we decided to organize a Power Week together—an intensive week of co-design with a group of brilliant young people, to bring this TEDX to life. Often, behind these special encounters, there are incredible people like the legendary Tim West, who are true "serial connectors." In our case, Luca Corsolini, with his unique talent for bringing the right people together at the right time, helped ignite sparks of creativity and innovation that might otherwise never have seen the light of day. I sincerely believe in the magic of "casual collisions" and that every human connection has the potential to create something extraordinary. TEDxPollica will be the accelerator of these collisions. 🌱 The Power of Youth Young people are a creative and innovative force with the power to transform the future of humanity. We must nourish them with the best experiences and stimuli because each one of them is a mine of energy and beauty. This TEDx was envisioned and designed together with a group of young people from Rome and various regions of a proud South, and once again, they will be the protagonists of this adventure. 🌍 The Magic of Stories and Life-Changing Experiences Over these three days, we will immerse ourselves in experiences of land and sea, art and community, discovering the lands of the #MediterraneanDiet, a cradle of endless heritage and a guardian of the algorithm of longevity.
