Pirelli participated as the official sponsor of Italy, Guest of Honour, at the 76th edition of the Frankfurt International Book Fair, reaffirming its commitment to supporting culture, in line with a tradition that promotes dialogue between science and the humanities. In the Italy at the Frankfurter Buchmesse 2024 “Roots in the Future” pavilion, designed by architect Stefano Boeri’s studio, Pirelli showcased the various aspects of its identity: innovation, technology, art, and corporate culture. Pirelli and Lamborghini have collaborated for two years to create custom P Zero tyres for the new Urus SE, Lamborghini's first plug-in hybrid SUV. These tyres, available in 21", 22", and 23" sizes, are designed to optimise performance and comfort in both everyday and extreme conditions. The new Scorpion Winter 2 tyre ensures superior traction in winter, with a compound tested in the Arctic Circle. The legendary Pirelli #StellaBianca tyre has made history - literally! The team, led by car enthusiast Gianni Morandi and his co-driver Marco Morosinotto, embarked on an epic journey from Poggibonsi in Italy to the northernmost point of Europe, the North Cape in Norway. The two Italians covered this fantastic distance in a historic 1929 OM 665 Superba. Starting from the Pirelli headquarters in Milan, the team covered a total of 10,400 kilometres without changing a single tyre. It took 15 days to reach the North Cape, and 14 days to return - all on picturesque country roads, with no motorways. The journey not only brought to life a piece of automotive history, but also demonstrated the #technological evolution of the Pirelli Stella Bianca. Externally identical to the 1927 original, today's Stella Bianca boasts modern #materials and advanced technologies to ensure maximum safety and performance. On the return journey, Morandi and Morosinotto took advantage of their stopover in Frankfurt am Main to have their vehicle checked out at the DRIVER flagship store. Pirelli has received validation from the SBTi for its long-term Net Zero 2040 target - the most challenging among tyre makers - which involves reducing absolute Scope 1, 2, and 3 greenhouse gas emissions by at least 90% compared to the reference year 2018.   This target is in line with the Paris Agreement’s target of limiting global warming to within 1.5°C.   Additionally, its "near-term" decarbonization targets have also been approved by SBTi, which include reducing absolute Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 80% by 2030 compared to 2018 and reducing emissions from suppliers (Scope 3) by 30% by 2030 compared to 2018.
