From 2020, Sisgeo supplied geotechnical instruments for 𝟱 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗹𝗮𝗿𝗴𝗲 𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗵-𝗳𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗱 𝗱𝗮𝗺𝘀 in diverse regions of Morocco: Ghiss (Al Hoceima), Targa ou Madi (Guercif), Kheng Grou (Figuig), Beni Azimane (Driouech) and M’Dez (Sefrou). Our client Sixense Group is performing the installation of these instruments within the construction activities managed by SBTX and SGTM. Earth-filled dams with a concrete upstream screen are typical structures among hydropower facilities. The structures have been designed in a common way for the instrumentation part: many 𝗩𝗪-𝗣𝗶𝗲𝘇𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀, for monitoring the pore water pressures and the saturation levels within the dam body; 𝗗𝟮𝟯𝟮 𝗵𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘇𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗮𝗻𝗸𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗲𝘅𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀 have been used for monitoring the horizontal extension within the dam structure; 𝗥𝗧𝗗 𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗯𝗲𝘀 are installed for following the internal temperatures of the earth mass. The monitoring of the concrete upstream screen involves a large number of 𝘀𝘂𝗯𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗴𝗲𝗱 𝟭𝗗 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝟯𝗗 𝗰𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀 for monitoring the long-term behavior of concrete joints. In addition, 𝗕𝗼𝗿𝗲𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗲 𝗘𝘅𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗠𝗣𝗕𝗫 have been installed for monitoring the vertical movements between the dam body and the foundations. To date have been supplied: 40 x RTD, 7 x CRD-400 readouts, 75 1D-jointmeters, 20 3D-jointmeters, 82 piezometers, 6 MPBX, 2 inverted and direct pendulums, 1000m of chain of embankment extensometers, 45m of staff gauges. Thank you Sixense Maroc for your continuous collaboration on this project, which is still ongoing in the current year. More at: https://lnkd.in/dXvZyhBH

Innovation in structural monitoring:  HUGGENBERGER AG's solution for the Carmena Dam. One of the latest solutions developed for structural monitoring of dams: a customised system for the single-borehole extensometer of the Carmena dam in Ticino, Switzerland. In collaboration with their customer and consulting engineers, they designed a customised device to meet the specific requirements of continuous structural deformation monitoring. As the pictures show, the integration of advanced instruments and precision sensors allows the accurate measurement of deformations, ensuring constant and reliable control of the structure over time. In line with the Swiss Confederation's guidelines on dam safety, they have integrated a system that allows both manual and automatic measurements, ensuring a dual detection mode for greater safety and operational flexibility. This solution is a further example of how Huggenberger works in Dam Rehabilitation cases, developing tailor-made solutions, enabling operators to promptly react to prevent critical situations and improve the safety of critical infrastructures such as dams. #project #damrehab #group

Last week we were invited to attend the 8th Conference on the Challenges of Engineering Geology in Poland (8thWPGI), which took place from 15 to 18 October 2024 in Łódź. The main themes of the conference were the contemporary problems in engineering geology, with a deep focus on urban geology and geotechnics.  We held several workshops and presentations that touched on many important aspects of geotechnical monitoring: Chiara Pandini, our Area Manager for Central and Northern Europe, held a workshop on the monitoring of existing buildings during construction works. Vincenzo Caci, our General Manager, gave a workshop on railway monitoring, with a specific focus on tracks monitoring. Gianluca Vigna, our Technical Assistance Manager, introduced some general notes on drilling and specific applications for monitoring instruments installation. This was an important opportunity to emphasize the importance of installing the correct monitoring instrumentation in multiple projects, to meet many experts in the field and to attend interesting lectures and workshops.

Innovative 360° technology, allows each gauge to be calibrated over the full 360° range on three axes. This permits the LT-Inclibus to be installed in any orientation in space with no effect on measurement quality, simplifying installation operations. The chain of LT-Inclibus can be installed within a borehole, laid along a trench, or buried in a concrete mass. The rods are connected through mechanical joints, while the gauges are connected in a RS485 chain.
