The Road Less Traveled is a project initiated by Professor Paolo de Stefani from the Human Rights Center of the University of Padova, done in cooperation with Global Campus of Human Rights and led by an alumna from the European Master in Human Rights and Democratisation, Véronique Lerch. The project aims at broadening the career opportunities of graduates and exploring the less usual careers and career paths, which are possible after a degree in human rights. We have done a series of webinars and are now producing a podcast in which we interview human rights graduates about their career paths. The project is named after the well-known poem from Robert Frost: Two roads diverged in a wood, and I— I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference. The project can be followed on twitter or Instagram. The podcasts are available on the various podcast platforms (itunes, spotify, google).

The third revision of the United Nations' Global Digital Compact is now public. If it were a trojan horse, it would be bringing us closer to our doom. With backing from nations like Russia and China, the GDC is subtle in trying to establish a foundation that could embed stringent digital controls within the 'multilateral' system. Just like with the Cybercrime Treaty, this development brings us closer having digital authoritarianism weaving itself into the very fabric of the United Nations. Say no while you can.

Mfon Udechukwu As a Flying Labs Community and Program Coordinator for West Africa, Latin America, and the Caribbean, Mon Udechukwu supports drone and Al professionals in 19 countries as they implement projects in agriculture, education, mapping, and more. In this role at WeRobotics her commitment to localization and shifting power to local actors shines through as she provides capacity-building support, facilitates external partnerships, and encourages cross-country collaborations with Flying Labs. Her work is driven by a heartfelt faith in a future where technology serves the greater good. Before joining WeRobotics in 2021, Mon served as a Communications Officer with the Artificial Intelligence for Development Agency (A14DA) in Vienna. Her work focused on raising social awareness, particularly among young people, about the potential of Al to transform communities. Mon's academic background reflects her dedication to ethical and responsible use of technology. She holds a master's degree in Human Rights & Democratization from the Global Campus of Human Rights in Venice, Italy. Her passion for integrating human rights into emerging technologies led her to co-lead a working group on data ethics with Flying Labs from specific number] countries, deepening the Flying Labs Network's knowledge of core ethical principles and best practices in the drone and data ecosystem. Significantly, the working group created comprehensive data ethics handbook, featuring real-world use cases and a checklist to ensure ethical and responsible data use in future drone projects. We appreciate and celebrate Mon's impact and influence on Africa's digital transformation through her work which directly impacts, empowers and uplifts local communities through drone technology and Artificial Intelligence transforming crucial sectors and facilitating disaster management creating a path for a more inclusive, resilient and sustainable future for Africa. On #WorldEnvironmentDay, we would like to share again the episode with Sinéad Duffy, who founded Yogandha, a range of multi-awarded meditative oils. She wished that we knew that human rights the way it is taught comes from a particular philosophical perspective and hoped that the students would learn as well about the existence of other philosophical perspectives. This initiative provides innovative training, networking opportunities, and support to emerging leaders committed to advancing brain health and alleviating the impact of dementia on both local and global scales. Laura Maria's vision encompasses a holistic approach to tackling the prevalence of dementia, emphasizing the importance of diverse research disciplines and equitable dissemination of findings. She advocates for the creation of communal spaces that foster ongoing exploration of music, creativity, and integration as essential elements of prevention strategies. 🎹 Motivated by her experience during eight years of work at Musicians For Human Rights, where she witnessed the complex trauma endured by refugees, Laura plans to leverage artistic approaches to build community and facilitate integration between local residents and migrants, ultimately aiming to reduce the risk of dementia development.
