#UNGSC was pleased to welcome representatives of the management of the United Nations Office at Geneva (UNOG) to our Brindisi premises. The visit focused on continuing to strengthen synergies and collaborations between UNGSC and #UNOG, notably in the areas of environmental resource management, training, and capacity building. Tapping UNGSC's unique integration of digital technology, supply chain and environmental expertise, the flagship initiative Field Remote Infrastructure Monitoring (#FRIM), which has been successfully rolled out in field missions and is being extended to other entities, was of particular interest. Other related features being explored included the “environmental Action Planning and Performance” (#eAPP) online platform, which collects data for over 100 performance indicators (KPIs) and informs annual environmental scorecards to provide an overview of performance and support data-driven decisions and accountability to Member States. UNGSC thanks UNOG for their visit and words of appreciation for the "passion, dedication, and professionalism" of UNGSC staff, and looks forward to furthering our cooperation. #digitaltechnology #supplychain #environment UN Photo | Luca Nestola

Advancing Multilingualism at UNGSC. A core value of the #unitednations, multilingualism has been recognized by the UN Secretary-General as "an essential factor in harmonious communication among peoples and an enabler of multilateral diplomacy." At #UNGSC, staff members can avail themselves of the UN's language programmes; Laura Marrocchi, a student of Chinese, and Procurement Assistant, shared her experience: "In procurement, we attach great importance to multilingualism to better study market trends, be attuned to cultural differences that impact communication, and to speak with vendors. My managers have always been very supportive of my interest in studying Chinese. The UN Chinese Language Programme (CDOTS – DOS) offers a three-week intensive summer study programme at Nanjing University in China, sponsored by the Chinese government. I had the opportunity to participate in the 18th edition of the Programme, which brought together over 50 staff members from UN entities and duty stations worldwide! It was an extremely enriching experience, which allowed me to improve my Chinese language skills, experience Chinese culture firsthand, meet new colleagues, and represent UNGSC!"
