Today, we continue with another inspiring story from the #EmpowerHerJourney series, showcasing the remarkable journeys of women driving meaningful change in their communities - Amal, weaving threads of hope one stretch at a time. In a modest two-story room tucked along a narrow street in Al Ramtha, Irbid, Amal, a Syrian refugee, sits quietly at her sewing machine. The hum of the machine fills the room, her face softened by a faint smile – a sign that passion has found her again. At 34 years old, Amal is not just working toward a deadline; she is stitching together hope for her family of five. After years of displacement, battles with cancer, and caring for her family alone following her father’s absence in Syria, Amal had almost lost hope. There were days I hated my name – ‘Amal,’ meaning ‘hope.’ It felt like a cruel irony.” Her life took a turn when she heard about a nearby community centre offering a skills training programme. “I didn’t know it at the time, but it changed everything,” Amal said. She joined the ‘Promotion of Sustainable Employment for Jordanians and Syrian Refugees’ project, implemented through the #Trade_for_Employment (T4E) initiative. Through the Core Employability Skills Training (CEST), Amal not only gained practical skills but also found the confidence to excel in interviews and land a job at a local embroidery workshop – just two minutes from her home. “Before, long commutes and transport issues made working nearly impossible. Now, I can provide for my family without that stress,” she added. The project gave her more than just employment; it reignited her dreams. “With this job, I feel like I’m moving closer to continuing my education and undergoing surgery for my cancer treatment.” The Trade for Employment (#T4E) project focuses on developing capacities to enhance the Jordanian companies trade performance and generate additional employment opportunities. The project is implemented by GIZ Jordan behalf of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ)). © GIZ Jordan

🌍✨ Women-owned businesses, especially in developing countries like Jordan, face significant barriers to accessing export markets, limiting their participation in trade. To tackle these challenges, the Trade for Employment (T4E) project partnered with the Business and Professional Women Association- Amman (BPWA) to establish the Women Export Unit (Wexport). 🚀 As the first of its kind in the region, this unit serves as an export services hub, providing women led/owned businesses (WL/WOB) with a variety of export-related services to enhance their capabilities for expanding into international markets. 👩💼 Over the past 5 years, more than 500 WL/WOB have benefited from Wexport’s services. Today, we had the privilege of meeting inspiring women like Manal (Hype Creative Studio), Maleeka (Jadara Electronics Co.), Fairouz BeeCare , Amina's Natural Skincare and Rania Al Babli who shared their remarkable stories of growth and success in exporting. The Trade for Employment (T4E) project focuses on developing capacities and strengthening structures in a sustainable manner to enable Jordanian companies to enhance their trade performance and generate additional employment opportunities. The project is implemented by GIZ Jordan on behalf of theFederal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). 🤝Together, we are paving the way for greater inclusion of women in trade and fostering economic empowerment in the region. 💪🌟 © GIZ Jordan
