MUFG today announces the appointment of Nadine Henker as Managing Director, Head of Leveraged Finance for Germany, Austria and Switzerland (DACH). This appointment further cements MUFG EMEA’s strategic commitment to growing its Financial Institutions (FI) and Leveraged Finance business as part of its Global Corporate and Investment Banking division. Nadine, who will be based in MUFG’s Frankfurt Office, will be responsible for growing the bank’s Leveraged Finance business in the DACH, Nordic and CEE regions, supporting across a wide-range of businesses going through times of growth or change and particularly focusing on financing large cap underwritten and direct lending transactions with private equity-owned firms. Nadine will report to both David Nisbet, Head of Leveraged Finance for MUFG in EMEA and Dr. Barbara Böhnlein, Head of Corporate Coverage for MUFG in DACH, Central Eastern Europe and the Nordics. Nadine Henker, Head of Leveraged Finance, DACH, MUFG, said: “I am delighted to join MUFG with a mandate to grow our Leveraged Finance business in the DACH region. It is an exciting time to be part of an experienced and skilled FI team and I look forward to working closely with my colleagues across the EMEA region.”

MUFG congratulates Al Rayan Bank UK on the close of a major funding facility which supports its ongoing strategy to diversify its funding structure. MUFG, acting as sole coordinator and loan agent, successfully led and arranged a syndication which will provide Al Rayan Bank with Sharia compliant funding over the next three years. For MUFG, this transaction marks our first sole coordinated Islamic deal in EMEA and first Islamic financing for a UK based client, highlighting our capabilities in Islamic Banking and expertise in the MENA region. Wael Al Sharif, Head of Global Corporate and Investment Banking, MENA, MUFG, said: “We’re delighted to be collaborating with Al Rayan Bank to support their growth and expansion ambitions. On 5th February, MUFG EMEA will welcome clients to a dedicated ESG event in London to provide valuable insights on the challenges of delivering and financing the transition to a more sustainable future. The event will bring together input from expert speakers, including a distinguished keynote, and MUFG’s own Ehsan Khoman, Head of Research, Commodities, ESG, Emerging Markets Research. The conference will focus on macro ESG themes for the year ahead, how the energy transition is progressing, implications of a shifting political and policy landscape, and the resulting effects on financing opportunities. We are pleased to announce that MUFG will be hosting a session in Davos during the World Economic Forum's Annual Meeting 2025. The need for scaling private finance to support climate change mitigation and adaptation in emerging economies is critical to preserving the sustainable society. However, the world faces many challenges given the real complexity of the net zero journey. When looking at emerging economies, the call for private finance to support their transition is ever-growing. In this context, two approaches have surfaced: one focusing on "integrity & credibility" to prevent greenwashing, and the other on "inclusion & equity" to address the financing gap highlighted during COP29. Reconciling these approaches is crucial to scaling private finance and meeting the needs of emerging economies. This session will explore how to navigate these potential differences while maintaining integrity and credibility, with insights from panelists. Baseado nisso, o MUFG lançou o tema da Inclusão Intencional que visa criar, de forma consciente, espaços onde diversas vozes não estejam apenas presentes, mas também ativamente engajadas e capacitadas para contribuir.   No MUFG Brasil, durante o Mês de Consciência Negra, em novembro, tivemos um rico bate-papo com uma especialista externa sobre os desafios da população negra, a fim de conscientizar e educar a respeito do tema, e apoiar ações contra o racismo.   Já em dezembro, celebrando o Dia Internacional da Pessoa com Deficiência, foi oferecida a experiência imersiva “Show no Escuro”, que buscou aumentar a conscientização sobre a realidade das pessoas com deficiência visual. O show incentivou uma percepção mais profunda de sons e músicas, fazendo com que os espectadores dependessem da audição e de outros sentidos que não a visão, colocando-se no lugar do outro, e fortalecendo a empatia.   Essas atividades foram planejadas por nossos voluntários, compostos por funcionários dos grupos de fala e aliados. Following this, MUFG launched the theme, Intentional Inclusion, it aims to consciously create spaces where diverse voices are not only present, but actively engaged and empowered to contribute.   In MUFG Brazil, during Black Awareness Month, in November, there was a rich roundtable with an external specialist about the challenges from black voices, raising awareness, education and supporting actions against racism.   And in December, celebrating International Day of Persons with Disabilities, it was offered the immersive experience “Concert in the Dark”, that sought to raise awareness about the reality of people with visual impairment. The show encouraged a deeper perception of sounds and music, making viewers rely exclusively on hearing and other senses, putting on other people’s shoes, fostering empathy.   These activities were planned by our volunteers, composed by speeches groups and allies.
