How we started
In 1872, Shiseido opened its doors in Ginza, Tokyo. The family business that started out as Japan’s first private Western-style pharmacy transformed into a global beauty giant that currently operates in approximately 120 countries and regions around the world. Based in Japan, we venture beyond the cosmetics business to realize Beauty Innovations through the creation of unique products, delivering new values and actively contributing to the happiness across the globe through beauty.

We opened Shiseido Future University (SFU) in the company’s birthplace, Ginza, as a new talent development facility that will nurture the next generation of Shiseido leaders. SFU aims to develop future leaders who have a sensitivity to beauty and richness of spirit befitting a beauty company, as well as have the most advanced, global business expertise in order to create new value and innovation in Shiseido’s unique way.
