In the last 12 months, we have: 🤝 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗦𝘄𝗶𝘀𝘀-𝗝𝗮𝗽𝗮𝗻𝗲𝘀𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀: Through courtesy visits to local universities and companies, participation in major conferences, and co-organizing the #SwissVitalityDays, celebrating 160 years of diplomatic relations between Switzerland and Japan, as well as mobility programs such as #NextStep and the ZHAW Staff Mobility Program. 🤖 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗖𝘂𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴-𝗘𝗱𝗴𝗲 𝗧𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗱𝘀: Connecting leaders in #sustainability, #robotics, and #quantum science from Swiss and Japanese academia, startups, and industry. 🎉 𝗛𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝟴𝟬+ 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀: Including high-profile events like the Davos Debriefing and Swiss-Japan Energy Days, alongside exclusive networking opportunities for our community of entrepreneurs, artists, academics, including #SwissAlumni. 🚀 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝟲𝟬+ 𝗦𝘄𝗶𝘀𝘀 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗽𝘀: Through Japan market validation & entry camps, consulting services, and pitching opportunities at major exhibitions such as SusHi Tech Tokyo 2024. Initiated by the State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (SERI) and managed in cooperation with the Swiss Department of Foreign Affairs, we represent the modern 21st century’s science diplomacy. The Consulate of Switzerland in Osaka has been announced by Swiss President Guy Parmelin on July 24, 2021 and accredited by the Japanese Government on August 1, 2021. Swiss President Ignazio Cassis held the groundbreaking ceremony in the new Consulate offices on April 20, 2022, making Japan the 6th Swissnex location. The Consulate of Switzerland, Swissnex in Japan, is part of the Swissnex network with offices in the US (Boston, New York and San Francisco), in China (Shanghai), in India (Bangalore), and Brazil (Rio de Janeiro), along with individual science counselors around the world. Hoerstrup, #IREM, Dr. Melanie Generali, IREM and Director Dr. Jun Takahashi, CiRA with impressive talks. This symposium brought together leading minds in #regenerative #medicine, specifically focusing on cell and gene therapy, to share the latest advancements in iPS cell research. Organized by Kyoto University's Center for iPS Cell Research and Application (CiRA) and the Institute for Regenerative Medicine (IREM) at the University of Zurich, the event featured lectures, poster sessions, and networking opportunities, both onsite at the Med-Pharm Collaboration Building and online, making it accessible to a global audience. This inspiring showcase brought together five emerging Swiss designers—Fabien Roy, Amandine Gini, Victor Moynier, Ramona Hess, and Salomon Elsler—who captivated the audience with their #innovative and #sustainable approaches to furniture design. The exhibition demonstrates how overlooked wood resources can be transformed into beautiful, functional pieces. Highlights include @Ramona Hess's creative use of small, cracked wood scraps, Amandine Gini and Victor Moynier’s exploration of construction wood, Salomon Elsler’s focus on pest-infested hardwoods, and Fabien Roy’s stunning collaboration with the Japanese bentwood manufacturer #Kurikyu, blending Swiss🇨🇭 and Japanese 🇯🇵 design traditions. This winners 2024 are: 🏆 Professor Robert Costanza 🇺🇸 🇦🇺 has been awarded for his groundbreaking work in ecological economics, notably his 1997 study highlighting the immense value of ecosystem services—far surpassing the global GDP. His visionary efforts have shaped a field that integrates environmental sustainability with economic prosperity. 🏆 Represented by Anne Larigauderie, the Intergovernmental Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services IPBES has been awarded for its pivotal role in shaping global policy on biodiversity and ecosystem services. By providing critical scientific insights, IPBES empowers governments, businesses, and communities to take meaningful actions towards safeguarding our natural world. In sincere recognition of these achievements, Crown Prince Akishino said, "I sincerely hope that the efforts of those who are working diligently to solve environmental problems will help people to live happier lives." Professor Costanza and IPBES were presented with Blue Planet Prize award and US$ 500,000 in prize money. His Highnesses Crown Prince Akishino and Mr. T. #EDUCATION: 𝗦𝘄𝗶𝘀𝘀 𝗧𝗮𝗹𝗸 𝗮𝘁 𝗝𝗮𝗽𝗮𝗻’𝘀 #𝟭 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘀𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹🇯🇵🇨🇭🔝🏆 Do it like #Einstein! – A great weekend day for our Consul & CEO Dr. Felix Moesner and Minami Kotani, Head of Academic Relations to present the 𝗦𝘄𝗶𝘀𝘀 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗘𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 system to top elite students at 𝗡𝗮𝗱𝗮 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 (灘高等学校) in #Kobe, which is continuously 𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗸𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼𝗽 among 4874 high schools in Japan. The presentations titled ‘Why study in Switzerland?’ introduced the benefits of studying in Switzerland, including high quality education and research, an international learning environment & quality of life, and careers after graduation. 𝗔𝗹𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘁 𝗘𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗶𝗻, who graduated from the Swiss Highschool Aarau and then studied at ETH Zürich and University of Zurich. Shortly after receiving his #Nobel Prize, Einstein traveled to Kobe and Japan exactly 102 years ago. A very nice link to the region here! Finally, the Swiss Pavilion joining the World Expo 2025 Osaka and the Vitality.Swiss campaign have been presented and a warm welcome to the students have been extended to visit the Swiss Pavilion! Switzerland was the only country able to present to these highly interested student talents. Thank you for the rich feedback and amazing interaction – a true privilege! This prestigious 𝗡𝗮𝗱𝗮 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 offers highest quality education in sciences (mathematics, chemistry, physics and biology) and ranks first for its academic excellence. The school sends 85% of its students to the University of Tokyo, Kyoto University, Waseda University and Keio University and several enter US Ivy League universities. Prof. Ryōji Noyori, #Nobel Laureate of Chemistry in 2001 and President emeritus of RIKEN is one of the famous alumni of Nada High School.
