On this World Habitat Day, we celebrate the transformative power of youth in shaping our urban landscapes. Young people are not just the leaders of tomorrow; they are the innovators and changemakers of today, bringing fresh perspectives and groundbreaking solutions to the challenges facing our cities. Their energy, creativity, and passion are crucial in creating sustainable, livable environments that reflect the diverse needs of their communities. Today, we shine a light on remarkable youth-led initiatives across Africa that are reshaping urban environments. One such initiative is EcoPost Ltd, Co-founded by Lorna Rutto in Kenya. EcoPost tackles plastic pollution by converting waste into durable fencing posts, creating jobs and promoting a cleaner environment. South Africa's Neighbour roots, co-founded by Zandile Kumalo, promotes urban farming in cities. Her stunning hydroponic rooftop farm is a testament to her commitment to her serious mission to make the concrete jungle of Gauteng green. Yo-Waste is a technology-based waste management startup in Uganda that helps communities and businesses to become more sustainable through its range of technologies that connects different waste management players. Yo-waste solutions such as the hauler app allows waste pickers who own a truck to sign up as partner garbage collectors and get access to a variety of customers that need their services. This was co-founded by Martin Tumusiime who teamed up with four other friends. Elizabeth Wathuti , O.G.W founded the Green Generation Initiative in Kenya, focusing on reforestation and environmental conservation. This initiative engages youth in tree-planting campaigns, combating urban deforestation and promoting sustainability—values that resonate deeply with the goals of World Habitat Day. As we observe World Habitat Day, let us honor these youth leaders who are not only addressing the challenges of urban living but are also paving the way for a sustainable, inclusive future. Do you know any notable youth founder who is contributing to sustainable urbanization? Let us recognize them today! #WorldHabitatDay #YouthInAction #SustainableUrbanization #EcoInnovation #YouthLeaders #GreenInitiatives #WasteManagement #UrbanFarming #EnvironmentalStewardship #PlasticPollution #Reforestation #ClimateAction #AfricaRising #TransformingCities #FutureOfSustainability

Through cooperatives, out grower farmers can negotiate better prices, access bulk resources at lower costs, and share knowledge that improves their practices. Cooperatives offer an avenue for out-growers to collaborate rather than compete against one another, creating a sense of community and shared purpose. At the core of making sustainable business decisions lies the need for accurate, timely data. Whether it’s tracking energy consumption, analyzing supply chain inefficiencies, or measuring waste, data allows companies to understand the impact of their operations in real time. But data on its own is not enough; the ability to analyze and draw actionable insights from that data is what empowers businesses to implement meaningful changes. https://lnkd.in/eb8X8P3A #sustainabilitydata
