Thanks to the support of USAID, the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, KOICA, and the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, #FASA stands as a groundbreaking initiative. This first-of-its-kind fund will provide catalytic capital to support financing for agricultural SMEs across Africa. As the agricultural and climate partner, CGIAR Hub for Sustainable Finance (ImpactSF) will play a critical role in enabling FASA to meet its ambitious goals. 🌍Libyan farmers are battling a red spider mite infestation, worsened by climate change, that is ravaging crops across the country. ICARDA; International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas emphasizes the need for integrated pest management, including stronger quarantine systems and early detection, as traditional pesticide use faces growing resistance. The mites, thriving in the region's rising temperatures and drought conditions, have already devastated fruit and vegetable production, particularly in Wadi Al-Hai, with more regions at risk.
