With #COP29 approaching, there's an urgent call for global climate finance for Africa. Africa is severely impacted by climate change, with 9 of the 10 most vulnerable countries located on the continent. In 2022 alone, 110 million people were affected by climate-related hazards, though this number is likely underestimated. Despite recent increases in climate finance, Africa still needs $277 billion annually for climate adaptation. Current funding efforts, including the Green Climate Fund's recent approval of $227.1 million for Africa, fall far short. To meet the challenge, the world must scale up investments and ensure equitable access to finance.
