We are so proud to spotlight our accomplished alumni, Thomas Abedi who is making waves in the culinary industry. Thomas studied Food Production course in 2012 and is currently living and working in Edinburgh, Scotland. Mr. Abedi highly appreciates the culinary skills and experience he gained while undertaking his culinary arts course at the prestigious Kenya Utalii College, noting that both the classwork from experts and the external industrial attachment prepared him well to compete locally and globally in the dynamic hospitality industry. Thomas notes that he has worked in Kenya with leading hotels, such as the Heritage Voyager Beach Resort in Mombasa, where he began his culinary journey under Chef Living Asikoye, and at Sarova Hotels with Chef Avraj Marwa, Serena Hotel with Chef Roy Kinywa, and Intercontinental Hotel under Simon Wanjau. He also spent five years working with Royal Caribbean International cruise ships and three years at Best Western Morvan Hotels in Jersey Channel Islands. Currently, he serves as a sous chef in Scotland. Thomas affirms that self-discipline, resilience, perseverance, consistency, a positive mindset, and faith in God have been his driving forces. He looks forward to scaling greater heights, believing that the sky is not the limit but just the beginning, inshallah. #KenyaUtalii #AlumniSpotlight #UtaliiAlumniVoices #hospitalityindustry
