This week, our teams across #kpmgafrica were actively engaged in #shapingthefuture of #familybusiness across Africa. We kicked off with the 4th Private Capital Conference in Dar es Salaam hosted East Africa Private Equity & Venture Capital Association (EAVCA) where Solomon Kîhang'a and Zipporah M. delved into the unique challenges and opportunities facing family businesses, exploring strategies for sustained growth and private capital investment. On 25 October 2024, I had the privilege of kicking off the day with productive collaborative meetings between KPMG East Africa and ACCA Africa , focusing on critical public sector matters together with my colleagues Sarah Ituku-Njuguna and John Ndunyu. The day then transitioned into a thought-provoking panel discussion, where Jasper Oluoch , Senior Manager at KPMG, was a panelist and shed light on the pivotal role of a CFO and the evolving landscape of sustainability reporting. Into the evening, we celebrated a momentous occasion – and ot my privilege as the #boardchair , to welcome new ACCA members into our global family and honoring those who have achieved the prestigious FCCA designation. It was also a night to recognize and celebrate the exceptional contributions of industry advocates. I am deeply humbled to be among the 12 recipients of the 2024 Advocate of the Year award. We were also inspired by a powerful keynote address from ACCA Executive Director, Lucia Real Martin GAICD , and a captivating presentation by guest speaker Toseef Din Msc,FCCA, CPA(K),Bsc, who delved into the importance of workplace well-being. Her concept of G.R.A.C.E resonated deeply, reinforcing the notion that self-care is the cornerstone of sustainable success. As part of KPMG East Africa's ongoing initiatives to enhance cybersecurity awareness during this #CybersecurityAwareness month, today, KPMG Kenya visited Brookhurst International School, Kiserian Campus, to deliver an in-person cyber awareness training session for the students.
