As we continue to honor the brave men and women who have shaped Kenya’s past, present, and future on #MashujaaDay! 💪🏾🎉.. Let's not forget the powerful legacy of Kenya’s environmental heroes who continue to inspire change and drive sustainability. From the trailblazing work of Prof. Wangari Maathai who fought for reforestation and women's empowerment, to the fearless advocacy of Phyllis Omido, who championed environmental justice in Mombasa, and the youth-driven leadership of Elizabeth Wathuti, who’s nurturing a generation of climate activists—these women embody the spirit of true heroes. Their unwavering commitment to conservation and community well-being reminds us that the fight for a sustainable planet is ongoing, and it requires us all. As we honor their contributions, let’s continue to protect and preserve the environment for future generations. 🌍 Wangari Maathai - Founder of the Green Belt Movement 🌱 Phyllis Omido - Environmental justice advocate and founder of CJGEA 🌿 Elizabeth Wathuti - Founder of Green Generation Initiative. #MashujaaDay #EnvironmentalHeroes #ClimateAction

  • 🌍 🧠 Mazingira Day and World Mental Health Day: Two Sides of the Same Coin. At NTIF, we recognize the profound link between a healthy environment and mental well-being. On this combined occasion of #MazingiraDay and #WorldMentalHealthDay, we highlight how our environmental conservation efforts contribute to a healthier society—physically, emotionally, and mentally. Studies have shown that time spent in nature reduces stress, anxiety, and depression, making green spaces vital not only for ecological balance but also for mental health. By restoring ecosystems and promoting sustainability, we are contributing to both a healthier planet and healthier minds. #MazingiraDay #WorldMentalHealthDay #ClimateAction #EnvironmentalConservation #MentalWellness

  • 🌍 Celebrating Mazingira Day: Our Commitment to Environmental Stewardship🌿 At Nature Target Initiative Forum (NTIF), we align with Kenya’s national plea to engage in environmental conservation efforts and attain sustainable development. On #MazingiraDay, we reaffirm our commitment to restoring ecosystems, advocating for green policies,  and empowering communities to adopt sustainable livelihoods. Our efforts include reforestation, protecting water bodies, and promoting clean energy solutions that benefit both people and the planet. By working together with stakeholders and policymakers, we can secure a sustainable future for all. Let’s keep the conversation going on environmental conservation. #MazingiraDay #ClimateAction #GreenKenya

  • As #COP29 approaches, Kenyan youth, women, indigenous people, persons with disabilities and marginalized communities are uniting to advocate for climate finance, adaptation, and gender-responsive policies. Their voices are critical in shaping Kenya's position on the global stage. In their strategic position paper formulated after a convening by YWCA Kenya in collaboration with Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung and Voices for Just Climate(VCA), they highlight the need for; 1. Atleast $1 trillion annually in climate finance. 2. Support for adaptation, and 3. A strong focus on gender equity in climate governance. Find attached the full position paper on their collective efforts and priorities here:  #COP29 #Climatefinancing #GenderInclusivity@COP29 #ClimateAdaptation

Intergrating Gender considerations at COP 29 (The Conference of parties to the UN framework of Conventions on climate change)supports broader sustainable developments such as: 1. EnhancedParticipation: Women bring unique perspectives and solutions to climate change challenges. By ensuring their participation in decision-making processes, COP28 can create more comprehensive and effective climate strategies. 2. Addressing Root Causes: Gender inequality is often rooted in social, economic, and political structures that also affect climate resilience. Tackling gender issues at COP29 can help address these underlying causes, leading to more holistic solutions. 3. Adaptation and Resilience: Women play key roles in managing natural resources and leading community adaptation efforts. Their involvement is critical for building resilience in the face of climate impacts. 4. Equity and Justice: Climate change affects individuals differently based on gender, with women and marginalized communities often facing greater vulnerabilities. Recognizing these differences ensures that climate policies are equitable and just.

  • Thank you Green Africa Youth Organization for a very Insightful session on Solar Radiation Modification( SRM). SRM includes technologies to cool the planet, the most mature of which is stratospheric aerosol injection. SRM deployment in one country could have impacts regionally and globally ,However more research needs to be done.
