We curate female-events (Safe spaces) & creatively raise awareness on period poverty through a novel barter trade model

About us

SisterSpeaks "Dada Ongea" is a female-centered events organization that curates safe spaces and events for like-minded women to connect, build their networks while championing each other through accountability. Founded #HEELS4PADS as a CSR to include marginalized women and girls that lack access to menstrual products through awareness-raising. #HEELS4PADS is a digital initiative that seeks to raise awareness on menstruation and period poverty as not just about Pads and Tampons but women’s rights. H4P uses the power of technology mainly social Media to influence and leverage the power of the people to raise awareness and end period poverty. We aim to make access to Menstrual products and education easy to ensure girls are confident to stay in schools, and women can participate in economic development and never miss an opportunity due to lack of menstrual products. Heels donations are sold/exchanged with sanitary pads as the currency to engage and normalise period conversation. The campaign "One woman, a pair of heels to end Period Poverty" targets two folds of women, one without purchasing power for a pair of heels but in return can afford sanitary pads to ensure no one is left behind in the fight to achieve Menstrual Equality.

  • Generational wealth is all that we aspire to have but it often feels as if its an aspiration hard to achieve. This Saturday Capital Club East Africa during the Heels Connect: Women & Wealth Brunch we aimed to debunk the myths around investing and also educated the attendees on the importance of de-risking financial opportunities. The conversation on De-Risking Finance: Navigating Investments and Financial Security - was moderated by Monicah W. Muhoya and we had the amazing panellists well versed in Finance and Insurance: MAMA BIMA KENYA Founder and CEO of Plessis Insurance Agency educated on the various insurance opportunities that exist that one can apply as they grow their business and increase their wealth opportunities. Angela Kariuki - Financial Consultant with phenomenal brand Angie On Bonds - helped simplify how to invest through bonds and how it has long lasting benefits that serve those willing to let their money grow. Self learn by watching various videos on her #Youtube channel: https://lnkd.in/dT3w8T6e Ann Ndung'u , CISI Senior Relationship Manager of Standard Investment Bank shared what exist in Kenya as an option for saving and investing and that being Mansa X she also took as through a practical way of calculating what returns savings can bring if one is consistent and diligent. One underlying message is that we must not think small when it comes to saving and the more we save the more secure we should be. Journey to generational wealth is indeed possible and these incredible women articulated how this could be a reality for us all. We are grateful to all our partners who helped make this event possible: Capital Club East Africa, WYLDE International, Elite Women Ke, Bio Food Products Ltd | Certified B Corp 🌍, Ikojn and Unilever #SunlightKenya

This weekend at the Heels Connect: Women & Wealth event, I was profoundly moved by the phenomenal Eva Muraya CEO of BSD Group As she spoke, the room was enveloped in a deep silence—a testament to the wisdom she shared. Her five guiding principles resonated with me on a personal level, prompting reflection on my own journey as a social entrepreneur with SisterSpeaks and Heels4Pads. 1. Faith: She emphasized that faith conquers fear. Throughout my entrepreneurial path, faith has been my anchor during uncertain times. It has given me the courage to pursue initiatives that empower women, even when challenges seemed insurmountable. 2. Family: Being a first daughter, the lessons and values instilled by my family have shaped who I am today. Their unwavering support and the responsibilities I’ve embraced have been foundational to the success of my ventures. Family isn’t just where we come from—it’s the bedrock that supports our aspirations. 3. Fraternity: I’ve learned that surrounding oneself with like-minded individuals is invaluable. The circles of women I’ve built—friends, mentors, supporters—are more than just networks; they’re lifelines. Social capital and a good name open doors that money can’t. Together, we elevate each other to new heights. 4. Focus: In a world filled with distractions, feeding my focus and starving my distractions has been crucial. Aligning my daily actions with my larger goals for SisterSpeaks and Heels4Pads ensures that each step I take is purposeful and impactful. 5. Future: Our future holds limitless potential, but it’s up to us to shape it. By adhering to these principles, we’re not just chasing success—we’re building legacies. Intentionality in our partnerships and infusing faith-based values into our work amplify the impact we can make. Eva’s words reaffirmed why intentionality with business partners matters Angela W. I love doing this with you and our connected faith-based principles in entrepreneurship isn’t just about personal alignment; it’s about fostering ethical, sustainable practices that benefit communities. When women come together in circles, we create a vortex of strength that transforms not just ourselves but the world around us.- This encapsulates the essence of the supportive communities I’ve been fortunate to be part of. These circles are catalysts for change, innovation, and empowerment. Her speech wasn’t just inspirational—it was a clarion call to action. It reminded me of the importance of creating platforms where seasoned women can impart their wisdom to aspiring entrepreneurs. It’s about paving the way for others while continuing to grow ourselves. To all who attended, I’d love to hear your reflections. What insights did Eva’s speech spark in you?. #WomenInWealth #SisterSpeaks #FaithInBusiness #Entrepreneurship #WomenSupportingWomen

Heels Connect: Women & Wealth Keynote speaker was the phenomenal Eva Muraya Founder and CEO of BSD Group and when she spoke there was pin drop silence in the room. She left us with so much to ponder on and oh my were we blessed with so much wisdom, in summary she encouraged us to be led by the following five principles: 1. Faith - With faith we can overcome fear and keep going in all seasons. Hanging on to faith during the hard time will serve us with great rewards. 2. Family - We must to look back at what certain family members teach us because they are often a backbone into who we become as a result. 3. Fraternity - Surround yourself with like-minded people. Social capital is worth more than rubies because a good name alone can open doors that others struggle to open. Build a good name of yourself and organisation amongst your peers, colleagues and society. 4. Focus - Simply put feed your focus and starve your distractions. Review what you're focusing on and whether it aligns with what you want to achieve. 4. Future - Your future has the power to be as bright, but key is to work at aligning yourself to the first four as they will help you reap the rewards of your goal Thank you Eva for your knowledge and most importantly the privilege of your time. You saying yes to our event was a validation that we need to create more rooms where seasoned women like yourselves trickle down their knowledge to those who aspire to have a long lasting career as entrepreneurs. Your journey has not been easy but your story makes you a vision of resilience. May you continue to inspire many and may you keep rising, being fruitful and productive in all that you do. To all those who attended please leave a comment below of what you learned from Eva's speech.
