Celebrating 5 years of empowering every child to reach their full potential.
About us
TFK seeks to build a leadership force for the country that will catalyze systemic change in their communities to ensure that every Kenyan child unlocks their potential and is equipped to design a successful future for themselves. We aim to do this by recruiting talented young Kenyan leaders into a two-year teaching fellowship. The fellowship aims to place these high-potential leaders in teaching positions in high-need schools across the country, providing children with high-quality education and inspirational role models. Upon completion of the fellowship, these young leaders will be supported to take up leadership roles across society that will collectively contribute to the systemic change needed across Kenya to transform our schools, schooling systems, and the broader ecosystem of social and economic opportunity.

Creating a Safe and Loving Classroom Environment Vanessa Muthama, a first-year fellow at Mavoko Primary, is dedicated to fostering emotional well-being in her classroom. She believes that a safe and nurturing environment where students feel secure and supported is essential for effective learning. To create this atmosphere, Vannesa implements several engaging activities: - Dear God Jar (Mondays): Students share prayers, hopes, or wishes, encouraging empathy and emotional expression. - Gratitude Jar (Fridays): At the end of each week, students reflect on what they’re thankful for, promoting positivity. - "I Am Sorry" and "I Forgive You" Sessions: These create a space for apologies and forgiveness, fostering accountability and understanding. - Feelings Check: Regular check-ins allow students to openly share their emotions, encouraging support among peers. - Celebrating Birthdays: Vannesa organizes celebrations to help students feel valued and boost their self-esteem. Vannesa’s efforts embody our values, highlighting the impact of dedicated educators in creating a supportive learning environment. We were delighted to host the (ChezaCheza Foundation) Cheza Dance Foundation team, including their Co-founder Cherrelle Druppers, at our offices today. Together with our CEO, Yukabeth Kidenda, Rachael Mwangi (Head of Training), and Iqbal Basant (Head of Partnerships and Development), we had productive discussions about how we can collaborate to enhance learning outcomes for children in underprivileged communities across Kenya. It was inspiring to learn about the impact of dance as therapy through the Cheza Cheza programs and their innovative Happy Schools initiative. We are excited about the potential for collaboration and look forward to working together to create lasting change. #TeachForKenya #ChezaCheza #Partnerships #EducationForAll #DanceTherapy #HappySchools #BetterLearningOutcomes

In honor of World Food Day, we celebrate young leaders like Sybel from Kwa Njenga! 🌍✨ As a Grade 4 learner and key member of our Adopt A Tree Club, initiated by Tr. Esther Gacigi , Fredrick Ouma , Njeri Kamau , and Evalyn Lapasi . Sybel is championing sustainable agriculture to combat food shortages in urban areas. With her dedication, the club has created a thriving vegetable nursery bed that supplies seedlings to both the school and local youth groups. Using local resources like tires and sacks, Sybel shows that everyone can contribute to food security, even in limited spaces. Let’s honor the spirit of World Food Day by recognizing the difference young leaders can make! 🌿💚 #WorldFoodDay #TeachForKenya
