We’re now concluding the #WorldWithoutHunger Conference in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia 🇪🇹. These last three days have been filled with high-level discussions focused on #SDG 2—ZERO Hunger. I had the privilege of hearing from Heads of State from Ethiopia 🇪🇹, Kenya 🇰🇪, Guinea 🇬🇳, Sierra Leone 🇸🇱, UAE 🇦🇪 and leaders of key development institutions like UNIDO and the, all united in one message: a world without hunger is possible! To grasp the reality of hunger today, consider this: over 850 million people worldwide cannot afford a healthy diet, and in #Africa, one in every four people has experienced hunger. These statistics are alarming, especially given that 60% of Africa’s arable land remains unused. Hunger is not due to a lack of resources; it’s a challenge of coordinated action. Here are key actions discussed, key points taken from Dr Monique Nsanzabaganwa which challenge our shared responsibility: ➡️ Action 1: Increase investment in #agriculture 🌱 and #sustainable food systems to protect the environment and strengthen local economies. ➡️ Action 2: Promote agro-industrialization to create jobs 👩🌾 and improve access to nutritious food 🍲. ➡️ Action 3: Support climate-smart agriculture and resilient food systems to adapt to environmental changes. 📱 ➡️ Action 4: Implement inclusive nutrition policies—hunger is about food quality as much as quantity; we must prioritize safe, nutritious food. 🥘 ➡️ Action 5: Pursue conflict resolution and peace initiatives, as the impact of war exacerbates hunger. ➡️ Action 6: Strengthen global trade 🚆 ✈️ partnerships to bring African agricultural products to the world and ensure food security for all. Ending hunger and building a prosperous future for everyone is possible, but Africa cannot achieve this alone. The global community must stand with us. Together, let’s drive action toward a #WorldWithoutHunger. #WWHC #Worldwithouthungerispossible #Foodsecurity #Sustainability
