KATCO Shines at Spartakiad of Kazatomprom in Shymkent The Spartakiad of Kazatomprom, a major sporting event for the uranium mining industry in Kazakhstan, took place in Shymkent from August 24-29. The event saw participation from 24 mining companies, including KATCO. KATCO was represented by a strong team of 59 employees who competed in 10 different sports: mini-football, athletics, volleyball, basketball, badminton, table tennis, chess, cybersport, and swimming. The company's athletes demonstrated good skill and determination, ultimately securing a respectable 9th place out of 24 participating teams. This impressive result is a testament to KATCO's commitment to promoting a healthy and active lifestyle among its employees. KATCO has been recognized by the authorities of the Turkestan region! Pascal BASTIEN, General Director of KATCO, was awarded the medal of the Akim (Governor) of the Turkestan region for successful social activities in the region. The award was presented by the Akim of the Sozak district, Mukhit Turysbekov. Every year, KATCO invests significant funds in social projects within the Sozak district, allocating more than 300 million tenge for charitable initiatives. Since 2009, the total amount invested in the region's social development has exceeded 4.8 billion tenge. In addition, the company makes a substantial contribution to the region's economy, paying over 32 billion tenge in taxes and customs duties in 2023 alone. Located in remote areas of the Turkestan region, KATCO is actively involved in the lives of local communities. The company's social program focuses on the region's long-term development and includes projects to support education and infrastructure. KATCO is proud to share that our team successfully located two young boys lost in the mountains near our mining site. The teenagers, who had ventured into the mountains in search of their horses, became disoriented and were missing for two days. A dedicated team of approximately 80 KATCO employees, together with employees of the Department of Emergency Situations of Turkestan region and residents of the Sozak district, mobilized immediately, utilizing drones, water, and food supplies to aid in the search. This rescue operation was a testament to the power of teamwork, as individuals from across our mining site united in a common goal. We are relieved and overjoyed to report that the boys have been found safe and are now reunited with their family. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all involved in the search and rescue efforts. KATCO Achieves First Production at South Tortkuduk Project KATCO successfully extracted uranium concentrate from the South Tortkuduk project after initiating the acidification process. This on-schedule achievement marks a significant milestone and is a testament to the team's dedication. Need to highlight that South Tortkuduk will contribute 25% of KATCO's current output in 2024. Full production capacity of 4,000 tons of uranium expected by 2026. It is expected that the construction will reach 70% completion by year-end 2024 with focus on wellfield infrastructure and network expansion, as well as implementation of a digital wellfield system for optimization. Project prioritizes safety, collaboration, and sustainability. Akim of the Turkestan region Darkhan Satybaldy visited the KATCO mines Akim of the Turkestan region Darkhan Satybaldy, accompanied by the akim of the Sozak region, heads of regional departments and representatives of the management of NAC Kazatomprom JSC, visited the KATKO mines. The delegation was met by KATCO Deputy General Director Mukhit Kelimbetov, who took the guests around the mine site, showed the current production, and also introduced them to the progress of construction of a new production complex in South Tortkuduk. KATCO began production at South Tortkuduk in 2024. Today, a stage of the project has been completed aimed at the construction of a hydraulic network with pipelines for collecting solutions from the landfill, an intermediate site of the highway through which the collected solution containing uranium will be transported to the Tortkuduk processing plant. As part of the South Tortkuduk project, construction of a new auxiliary plant is also underway. This plant will produce desorbate, which will then be processed at the Tortkuduk plant. The construction of a new KATCO production complex is an important step towards the further development of the uranium industry in Kazakhstan. The project is expected to be completed in 2025. On June 21, the annual Safety Day was held at the KATCO mines! This day is a special event within the Orano Mining Safety Month. This is the tenth year the company's employees have come together to hone their skills in preventing incidents, thereby demonstrating their commitment to safety. This year, on Safety Day, artificial intelligence tools were used to effectively convey information about HSE results for the year 🚧 Events dedicated to Safety Day brought together both employees and management of KATCO, as well as representatives of Orano Mining companies, Kazatomprom and other uranium mining companies in the country. KATCO employees demonstrated the correct and safe performance of production tasks based on their work experience over the year. 🚨 Along with this, the HSE team held an exhibition of KATCO equipment used in emergency situations and organized additional master classes on first aid. The safety and health of our employees is our top priority.
