We are providing daily school meals to more than 2,058,099 children in 19 countries 🌍💙 #FoodChangesTheStory
About us
Mary’s Meals provides nutritious school meals to 2,429,182 children in 17 countries 🌍 every school day💙 #FoodChangesTheStory Our idea is a simple one that works. We provide one daily meal in a place of education in order to attract chronically hungry children into a classroom, where they receive an education that can, in the future, be their ladder out of poverty. Mary's Meals began by feeding 200 children in Malawi. Today we feed more than one million hungry children every day. In addition to our school feeding projects, which are very much the core of our work, Mary's Meals also supports a home for HIV-positive young adults - who were abandoned as children - in Romania. Our work is named after Mary, the mother of Jesus, who brought up her child in poverty. We consist of, we respect and we reach out to people of all faiths and none. The average worldwide cost for us to feed a child for a whole school year is just £15.90/€18.30/$21. Wherever possible, Mary's Meals uses locally grown food to support the local economy. We work hard to keep our running costs low and to ensure that at least 93 percent of donations go on our charitable work. This is only possible since most of our work is done by an army of volunteers. With 300 million chronically hungry children in the world, our work is just beginning.

“What’s important to us is the hungry child. When there are hungry children in front of us today, we’re going to feed them, and at the same time we’re going to work on the solution to getting them fed in the long term, creating a global movement of people who believe in this vision.” Magnus MacFarlane-Barrow, Mary’s Meals Founder and CEO Find out more about the story of our founder and the origins of Mary's Meals here: https://lnkd.in/e_94rbkb #littleactsoflove💕❤💕 💕❤💕 #marysmeals #marysmealsliberia #foodchangesthestory💙

On October 10, in recognition of International Day of the Girl Child (October 11), we awarded Stephanie with a certificate of appreciation for choosing our organization to serve as our Country Director for one day (October 10) as part of Plan International Girls Take Over campaign. Our experiences with #Stephanie demonstrated how our promise of a good meal is bringing children into the classroom, where they can gain an education, better opportunities for the future, and achieve their dreams. At age 12, Stephanie is already a tenth grader at the St. Dominic Catholic School. She is a brilliant and outspoken young girl who wants to be a medical doctor to contribute to Liberia’s development. For more than 6 years, she received Mary’s Meals while attending the Devine Daycare, Primary, and Junior High Academy in Bomi County. From receiving Mary’s Meals in school to becoming a country director of Mary's Meals Liberia Please join us to congratulate Stephanie, who stepped in today as our acting Country Director. Stephanie, 12, is charged with the responsibility to coordinate with various departments in Mary’s Meals Liberia and other departments at Mary's Meals International to ensure that nutritious meals are served to children in schools where Mary’s Meals are provided. Our acting country director, who is now a tenth grader at the St. Dominic Catholic School and with an ambition of becoming a medical doctor, received Mary’s Meals for more than 6 years while attending the Devine Daycare, Primary, and Junior High Academy in Tubmanburg, Bomi County. In her capacity, the acting country director visited the John L. Pavola Public School and had conversations with girls benefiting from the feeding program, listening to their stories and understanding the positive impact that school meals have on their ability to attend school and concentrate in class. Her service today honors the International Day of the Girl Child, which celebrates girls' rights and potential on October 11th, as well as the Plan International Girls Takeover campaign. In honor of International Day of the Girl Child, Plan International organizes the Girls Takeover program around the world to give girls and young women the opportunity to take on decision-making and leadership roles, allowing them to explore and showcase their power and talents while advocating for the rights of other girls and effecting long-term change on the political, economic, and social levels. We are glad to be providing hot school meals to over 45,000 young girls in pre- and primary schools in Bong, Bomi, Gbarpolu, Grand Cape Mount, and Montserrado Counties every school day. Congratulations, Stephanie, our powerful CD! #littleactsoflove #marysmeals #marysmealsliberia #foodchangesthestory
