Vidre+™ converts standard packaging into smart, freshness-preserving packaging that integrates seamlessly into existing supply chains, helping reduce food waste, carbon emissions, and resource use.    Currently operating at TRL 8-9, Vidre+™ has proven effective with items like berries, greens, and tomatoes, offering real value for growers, suppliers, and retailers. With a focus on net-zero packaging and alignment with EU’s goal to halve food waste by 2030, Fresh Inset is seeking packaging and produce partners in the EU, US, and LATAM.    Want to know more? Pandobac’s solution is designed to replace single-use materials like cardboard and styrofoam with reusable plastic containers, offering a turnkey system that includes rental, tracking, washing, and reverse logistics. With each container lasting between 50-100 uses, Pandobac guarantees a positive environmental impact, helping businesses reduce waste and save costs. 🌱 💡 Seeking Collaborators! 🌍 Workshop and Food Packaging Roadmap for Central and Western Lithuania 🌿 🗓 Today, the Lithuanian Food Exporters Association (LitMEA) is hosting an important regional workshop focused on developing a roadmap for a sustainable and resilient food packaging value chain. This workshop organized under the project Value4Pack brings together professional participants representing the penta-helix actors, aiming to align our regional strategies with the EU Green Deal goals. Throughout the workshop, participants are actively engaging in discussions to identify the main challenges facing our region, structured around the 4R principles (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, and Recover). The goal is to create targeted initiatives for each challenge and outline concrete actions that will drive innovation and sustainability in the short- (< 2 years), medium- (2-5 years), and long-term (5-10 years). 🔑 Key Elements of the Roadmap:  1.     Identifying Main Regional Challenges in the context of the 4R principles.  2.     Developing Initiatives to tackle these challenges and promote sustainable practices. 3.     Action Planning to ensure effective implementation of these initiatives. The workshop is still underway, and participants are actively collaborating to refine these strategies and ensure we achieve a more resilient and sustainable future for our region. 🧠 At Value4Pack, we believe that there's no such thing as a truly bad idea, however, there are some requirements to consider before submitting: 🗹 The idea proposal must be directly related to the food packaging sector, align with at least one of the EU 4R goals: Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle, and it should not lead to an increase of food loss or reduction of shelf-life. 🗹 The idea should be #industry-driven, aiming to address specific challenges and innovation gaps identified in the food packaging sector, prioritizing solutions for less developed regions. 🗹 The idea must show #novelty and a clear value proposition, distinguishing it from existing solutions in the applied regional market. 🗹 The idea should demonstrate potential for #collaboration with other stakeholders in the value chain. 🗹 The proposed idea must be #feasible and implementable within the current technological and economic landscape. 👉 Does your idea tick all of these boxes? What a great way to start after summer vacation: an exploration expedition to Lithuania for Next Tech Food Factories with Lisanne Oosterhoud, Van. Thanks Giedrius Bagušinskas for being our 'local' guide these days. With running collaborations in HIGHFIVE & SS4AF Lithuania is no stranger to us. But there is always room for more and better connections! Reconnecting with Lithuanian food exporters association (LitMEA), AgriFood Lithuania, ART21 and Lietuvos inovacijų centras / Lithuanian Innovation Centre (LIC) to see how we can strengthen our collaborations on #innovation in #digitalisation and #automation in #foodprocessing was inspiring. Especially since we were able to combine this with visits to the VDU Žemės ūkio akademija / VMU Agriculture Academy's Agro-Innovation Center in Kaunas and inspirational, frontrunning companies as Liūtukas ir Ko (Jurate Budryte), Akola Group/Kauno Grūdai (Justas Stanys), Birštonas Mineral Water (Aiste Miliute) and Ekofrisa (Lina Dužinskienė). Thank you all for opening your doors to us and sharing your ideas and challenges. Sustainability isn't only a topic in our food system, so it was good to see our partners take this seriously in their offices as well and to get the grand tour of the most sustainable commercial building in Lithuania. Thank you Kristina Sermuksnyte-Alesiuniene and Augustas Alešiūnas for this opportunity! Stayin a night at Vytautas Mineral SPA was a serious bonus: great place to relax! Obviously the food and drinks were nice and highly appreciated but playing a 3x3 game of basketball with Tautvydas Pipiras at the White Bridge courts in Vilnius surely was the social program's highlight for me. And something to be included during more business trips! Looking forward to bring the ideas we shared to reality in the coming period.
