🚋 A new era for public transport in Bosnia and Herzegovina!   Sarajevo has recently welcomed a fleet of trams equipped with the latest amenities, including air conditioning, USB ports, free Wi-Fi, digital passenger information systems, and video surveillance.   But this project is not just about new trams – it is about transforming Sarajevo’s public transport into a more sustainable and efficient system. Today we honour the resilience and dedication of humanitarian workers who help communities survive in the face of adversity, but also empower them to thrive and rebuild stronger.

Sustainable maritime infrastructure is a key driver for economic growth. Bulgaria’s ports are becoming increasingly important staging points for global food supply. However, outdated infrastructure and bottlenecks around ports lead to higher CO2 emissions and higher costs for transport operators, businesses – and ultimately consumers.   In June 2023, we signed a €50 million loan with Buildcom Ltd to build a new grain terminal at the Black Sea port of Varna. This project will enhance the port’s capacity and efficiency while promoting sustainability and economic growth in the region.    Strategically located between three continents, Portugal also plays a major role in maritime trade.   In September 2023, we invested €60 million to finance maritime accessibility improvements in Leixões, the most important seaport in northern Portugal and the second largest in the country for cargo and containers, while improving the environmental performance of the maritime supply chain.   We are proud to support projects that allow our ports to meet global trade demands while prioritising sustainability.   Find out more in this insightful article by Andreia Nuno 🔗 https://bit.ly/EU_ports   #MaritimeInfrastructure #Sustainability #InvestEU

Our agricultural system needs to be more sustainable. We must ensure fair prices for our farmers so they can afford transitioning to organic while reducing carbon emissions and food waste. Through an online platform, CrowdFarming: - connects farmers directly to consumers, eliminating the need for intermediaries; - and provides them with the necessary tools and support to succeed, such as logistics, customer service, and marketing. By building a more sustainable food system, CrowdFarming is contributing to the EU #Farm2Fork strategy, and we are happy to support them.
