The RESILIENCE lander is currently approx. a whole 1,000,000 km from Earth as it continues on its journey! On March 9th, engineers in our HAKUTO-R Mission Control Center (MCC) in Tokyo and Mission Control Room (MCR) in Luxembourg held their first joint operation during Mission 2, checking in on the TENACIOUS micro rover and sending commands! This is an important activity that "commissions" the MCR and confirms that they can send commands and receive data. With 57 days in space, TENACIOUS, RESILIENCE, and our engineers alike are constantly learning. Joint activities like this help everyone to fine-tune their processes before rover deployment on the lunar surface. RESILIENCE is currently traveling at approx. 1,400 km/h in the low energy transfer phase of its orbit and is expected to reach its furthest point from Earth in the next few days! #ispace #HAKUTO_R #VentureMoon #RESILIENCE #M2Updates

As we push the boundaries of lunar exploration, we must embrace a broad range of ideas, ensuring that our solutions are as resilient and dynamic as the challenges we face. ispace External Director Kazuko Nakada joined us to discuss what she believes the key to ispace’s success is, as well as her advice to ambitious individuals striving for leadership roles, and more! What do you think she wants to bring to the Moon? #ispace #RESILIENCE #IWD2025

When asked how she approaches challenges, ispace External Audit & Supervisory Member Agasa Naito said, “If pushing doesn’t work, try pulling,” encouraging us not to get hung up on one approach to solving a problem. ispace's mission—to expand humanity’s presence beyond Earth—demands innovation, creativity, and problem-solving at the highest level. And innovation does not happen in isolation. It happens when different perspectives come together. Check out this video to hear what Ms. Naito finds unique about ispace, what advice she would give her younger self, and, of course, what she would bring to the Moon! #ispace #RESILIENCE #IWD2025

Based on the experience gained during Mission 1, ispace engineers and operators in mission control have worked to significantly improve the accuracy and precision of maneuvers during Mission 2 and have confirmed that all seven subsystems of the RESILIENCE lander are nominal. All deep space maneuvers directing RESILIENCE to the Moon are expected to be completed on or around April 24, 2025, at which point the lander will achieve Success 6 of the Mission 2 Milestones. Next, RESILIENCE is expected to enter lunar orbit on or around May 6, 2025, which will achieve Success 7. This photo, named "Goodbye Earth", was captured by RESILIENCE on Feb. 18, 2025 after lunar flyby as it made its way into deep space. Next stop, the Moon! On June 5, 2025 at 19:24 UTC // 15:24 EDT, RESILIENCE is set to land on the lunar surface near the center of Mare Frigoris (Sea of Cold)! Should conditions change, there are three alternative landing sites that are being considered with different landing dates and times for each. #ispace #HAKUTO_R #VentureMoon #M2Updates #LunarLanding #Moon

The RESILIENCE lander is currently approx. 148,000 km from Earth as it continues on its journey! Last week was a busy week for our Operations engineers. They executed the successful lunar flyby on Feb. 15--a first of its type for a Japanese private, commercial lunar lander. They also completed an orbital maneuver on Feb. 16, which required a main thruster burn lasting 1 second, helping the lander settle into its trajectory after flyby. Today RESILIENCE is navigating a low-energy orbit through deep space, which will take it as far as 1.1 million kilometers from Earth before it makes its way back to the Moon. #ispace #HAKUTO_R #VentureMoon #RESILIENCE #M2Updates

Mission 2 Milestone Success 5 ✅🌓 The RESILIENCE lunar lander successfully completed a flyby of the Moon on Feb. 15, 2025, coming within approximately 8,400 km of the lunar surface--a historic first of its type for a Japanese private, commercial lunar lander. This spectacular image of our celestial neighbor was taken by RESILIENCE on Feb. 15, 2025 at an altitude of 14,439 km. RESILIENCE is now on a trajectory out to deep space before completing orbital maneuvers that will bring it back towards the Moon in advance of lunar orbit insertion, expected around early May. The RESILIENCE lander is currently approx. 112,000 km from Earth as it continues to make its way to the Moon! This is an exciting week, as our Operations engineers are preparing for the first critical maneuver of Mission 2. Although ispace engineers will execute a number of maneuvers with RESILIENCE over the duration of the mission, in principle critical maneuvers must be executed as scheduled to continue the mission. This week’s maneuver will set us on course for lunar flyby, coming up soon! Fun fact: at the point nearest to Earth in its orbit, RESILIENCE is traveling at about 29,000 km/hour, or 18,000 mph. Assuming an average hot dog length of 6 inches, and an average American football game duration of 3 hours, this would be equivalent to 570866141.7322836 hot dogs per football game. #ispace #HAKUTO_R #VentureMoon #RESILIENCE #M2Updates #SBLIX
