À propos
The Publications Office of the European Union is the official provider of publishing services to all EU institutions, bodies and agencies. As such, we are the central point of access to EU law, and also to publications, data, research results, procurement notices and other official information. The Publications Office therefore plays a central role in informing the public about what the EU does and means for them, and in unlocking the power of data. Our mission is to support EU policies as a centre of excellence for information, data and knowledge management, and to ensure that this broad range of information is available to the public as accessible and reusable data to facilitate transparency, economic activity and the diffusion of knowledge.

It is poll o’clock! 🗳️ Did you know that the European Union protects regional food and drink products through special labels? Since 2012, the Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) and the Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) preserve the names of products that originate from specific regions and have specific qualities or enjoy a reputation linked to the production territory. This system enables consumers to trust and distinguish quality products while also helping producers to market their products better. But what’s the difference? Here’s a scoop: For PDO every step of production happens in the region of origin, while for PGI, at least one production step must occur in that designated area. How much of a real foodie are you? Test it!

How accessible is your content?🔗 Having links in another colour is not enough. Many people have difficulties distinguishing between colours. Thus, on top of the links having a different colour, they also need to be underlined so that everybody can recognise them properly. Greetings from the College of Europe in Natolin, Warsaw! We were proud to take part today in a Youth Policy Dialogue between Commissioner Maroš Šefčovič and students of the College of Europe in Natolin, Warsaw. The topic of the dialogue was ‘EU trade and economic security – what is at stake for young Europeans?’. Commissioner Šefčovič said ‘We are going through a very transformative period where the young generation has the most to gain but also the most to lose. […] It is clear you will inherit a Europe that will look differently from what it is now. […] We need to know what we want to do and we need to be united in what we are doing. In the EU, we can achieve anything as long as we have unity.’ Our colleagues Dominika Uhrikova and Nataliya Rozbroj - Jasinskaja were there to lead an interactive workshop with students on data visualisation and trustworthy resources. We gained great insights into students’ use of resources for data and information and we showcased all the information available via data.europa.eu and more generally op.europa.eu. During our workshop, we invited students to reflect on how open data can be used to build a compelling narrative and on possible misinterpretation, such as reading misleading graphics. Finally we took part in the ‘Natolin Nest Talks’ podcast made by the College of Europe, where we spoke about trustworthy data, the role of EU data in digital transparency and data visualisation. The students we met today inspire confidence: our future will be in good hands with such well-informed and engaged actors! Replay the dialogue with Commissioner Šefčovič: https://lnkd.in/eKrZhuSU We’ll share the podcast from the College of Europe as soon as it’s available! Goodbye and do widzenia to Warsaw!
