A significant and substantial delegation gathered today for the #Luxembourg-#Portugal Business Forum. For decades, Portugal has been a key partner for Luxembourg. The objective is to foster more opportunities for #partnerships between both countries and to create a strong foundation for taking the next steps together. 🌎 “Going international is no longer a luxury; it’s a necessity,” stated Fernand Ernster, President of the Chambre de Commerce du Luxembourg, in his opening speech. Stéphanie Obertin, Luxembourg’s Minister for #Digitalisation, #Research, and Higher Education, remarked: “For many decades, our bilateral relationship has been based on friendship—the best foundation possible. Luxembourg, Portugal, and our companies should benefit from this. Through discovery and exchange, our relationships continue to grow stronger. These ties are an example within the #EU.” Today’s forum clearly demonstrates the shared commitment of both partners to explore business opportunities more deeply. João Rui Ferreira, Portugal’s Secretary of State for Economy, confirms: “Our bilateral relationship is a testament to this #connection, reflecting steady growth across different sectors. What an insightful event yesterday! Congratulations to WeSTEM+ for the kick-off event, “Data World,” hosted at Amazon's Kirchberg headquarters. This marks an exciting new chapter for the organisation, building on the foundations laid by the previous “#GirlsinTech” initiative. Co-founders Patrícia Souza (She/Her) and Alexandra Nastase are devoted to #empowering #women in the underrepresented tech industry, highlighting that “girls often don’t feel empowered to pursue STEM careers.” WeSTEM+ aims to change that narrative. 💪✨ By creating a supportive network, WeSTEM+ connects women with industry leaders, addressing the critical lack of #diversity in #tech. As Alexandra explains, “What we are trying to do here is help them connect the dots and put them in contact with key figures in the industry.” As a partner of the #StartupLuxembourg brand, WeSTEM+ plays a vital role in fostering a more inclusive ecosystem for women in STEM. Congratulations to OQ Technology and Circu Li-ion, recognised as two of the most #innovative #scaleups from over 200 nominations across Europe at the Scale 100 Forum on October 21-22! 🎓 Both companies have now joined the EIC Scaling Club, of which Luxinnovation is a proud member. The club's mission is to turn 20% of its members into #unicorns, providing them with tailored resources for #fundraising, #mentoring, and strategic partnerships. Earlier this spring in Brussels, Teraki was also selected by the EIC Scaling Club network as one of Europe’s highest-potential #deeptech scale-ups. The Luxembourg Venture Days brought together investors, startups, scale-ups, and key national & international initiatives, all in one event. It served as the ideal networking hub for our cohort. A huge thank you to Luxinnovation GIE, Startup Luxembourg and LPEA - Luxembourg Private Equity & Venture Capital Association for organising this gathering! About the Catapult Program sessions: We started with Sébastien Pineau from Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST), learning about cutting-edge innovations, followed by Jonas Mercier from Luxinnovation GIE, who shared startup opportunities and support in Luxembourg. Thanks to both for their insights! Then, Tatiana Madon, Tomasz Eryk Golkowski, Iryna Nikitina, Olena Vynnychenko, Iryna Telpis & Yulia Vdovychenko from Vodafone provided personalised mentoring, giving startups targeted advice for their next growth steps. Finally, our Catapulters had one-on-one meetings with e-MFP and LuxDev, focusing on impact measurement.
