FITUR Cruises held last week in Madrid (Spain) hosted the Cruceroadicto Awards now in its third edition, in an event attended by most of the 40 finalists across 16 categories. These awards are the result of an international cruise satisfaction survey taken by Spanish-speaking cruise travellers, who had the opportunity to voice their favourite cruise line, ship and port experiences during the past year, along with the reason behind their choices. #PremiosCruceroadicto2024 #CruiseAwards #VallettaCruisePort #GlobalPortsHolding #VisitMalta #CruiseIndustry #PortLife

🚢 🎊 A record number of cruise passengers visited Malta in 2024, with more than 940,000 passenger movements registered at Valletta Cruise Port, surpassing the pre-pandemic peak of 2019. During the last 12 months, the Grand Harbour received 357 cruise ship calls. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Tourism Ian Borg, Minister for Transport, Infrastructure and Public Works Chris Bonett and Valletta Cruise Port CEO Stephen Xuereb announced these results during a visit to Valletta Cruise Port, on Wednesday morning. Stephen Xuereb, COO of Global Ports Holding and CEO of Valletta Cruise Port plc, stated, “We are incredibly proud of the record-breaking results achieved in 2024, reflecting the cruise industry’s resilience and swift recovery post-Covid. This success is due to the collaboration of various stakeholders, and we extend our gratitude to all of them – including the Ministries of Tourism and Transport, Authorities, Ship and Shorex Agents, Service Providers, Tenants, and especially our dedicated personnel. Beyond the impressive numbers, we must continue to work towards delivering a smooth and authentic Mediterranean experience for which our Islands are globally renowned. The government is continuing its work on Quay Pinto 4-5, a crucial part of our infrastructure, and we anticipate its completion within the next year. With this development and our status as the first Mediterranean port to offer onshore power supply, we are well-positioned to ensure sustainable growth in this sector. In addition to our cruise facilities, Valletta Cruise Port issued a request for proposals for the Old Power House in December, and by mid-February, we will launch a public tender for the development of the Atrium car park. 2025 is shaping up to be an exciting year.” Deputy Prime Minister Borg and Minister Bonett were accompanied by Malta Tourism Authority CEO Carlo Micallef, Transport Malta CEO Kurt Farrugia and Capt. Fritz Farrugia, Chief Officer & Harbour Master at Transport Malta. Read more on: https://lnkd.in/emY2P-i7 #vallettacruiseport #cruiseindustry #portlife #malta

✨'Twas the night before Christmas... when Viking Vela visited Valletta Cruise Port on her first call. The all-veranda ship for just 998 guests with her understated elegance is at Valletta Cruise Port on her maiden call today, prior to repositioning to Norway and the Netherlands on her 'In Search of the Northern Lights' itinerary offering guests opportunities to witness the Aurora Borealis. As the eleventh in a series of ships that started with the Viking Star in 2015, she was built at Fincantieri’s Ancona shipyard in Central Italy. Slightly larger than its predecessors, the luxury vessel is 10 meters longer and two meters wider than her sister ships. Continuing its fleet expansion, Viking is set to take delivery of nine new oceangoing cruise ships through 2030. Following the Vela, the company is welcoming the Viking Vesta in 2025 and the Viking Mira in 2026. #vikingvela #vikingcruises #vallettacruiseport #globalportsholding #maidencall #malta #christmaseve
