Kamuzu University of Health Sciences (KUHeS) is a public owned university established in 2019 by the merging of Kamuzu College of Nursing (est. 1965) and College of Medicine (est. 1991). The University is a comprehensive health and allied sciences higher learning institution with the primary function of training globally competent and locally relevant health care professionals including Nurses, Midwives, Medical doctors, Laboratory technologists, Pharmacists, physiotherapist and researchers.

  • KUHeS School of Nursing and School of Maternal, Neonatal, and Reproductive Health Class of 2024 Finale Dinner  On August 3, 2024, Kamuzu University of Health Sciences (KUHeS) held a finale dinner at Amaryllis Hotel to celebrate the Class of 2024 from the School of Nursing and the School of Maternal, Neonatal, and Reproductive Health. The evening began with the Executive Dean of the School of Nursing, Prof. Genesis Chorwe, who encouraged graduates to view their graduation as "just a comma, not a full stop," stressing the importance of lifelong learning. While the Director of Student Affairs, Dr. Benjamin Kumwenda, urged the graduates to contribute to the MW2063 human capital development pillar and explore entrepreneurial opportunities, noting the significance of creating valuable, creative, and authentic solutions. He also thanked KUHeS management and the Vice-Chancellor for supporting the event with over 4 million kwacha, highlighting the importance of celebrating these achievements. Former SRC Vice President Florence Ndagha shared a touching story from her clinical attachments in Mangochi, which showed her compassionate work in bounding with, and improving the life of an elderly woman. The guest of honor, Prof. M. Mbeba, Professor of Nursing in Adult Health, inspired graduates to embrace their uniqueness and strive for global impact, reminding them that "the sky is not the limit." She also generously contributed MK100,000 and offered her ongoing support. The event was enlivened by poetic performances from students Promise and Elijah, adding a creative touch to the celebration. This finale dinner not only marked a significant academic achievement but also set the stage for the soon to be graduates' future impact in their professional fields.

  • The State President of the Republic of Malawi, Dr. Lazarus Chakwera on August 7, 2024 officially launched the Clinical Research Excellent and Training Open Resource (CREATOR) building at Malawi Liverpool Wellcome Research Programme (MLW). CREATOR is a cutting-edge building, set to be the epitome of the vision for postgraduate specialist training of Doctors and Research Scientists made to benefit health. It creates the infrastructure and support that will enable clinicians to conduct high quality research that can promote the health and wellbeing of people in Malawi and beyond. After opening the CREATOR, the President also toured and inspected construction work of the Administration Complex at the Kamuzu University of Health Sciences (KUHeS)

  • Kamuzu University of Health Sciences (KUHeS) on August 2, 2024 officially launched a new academic degree programme in Occupational Therapy in Blantyre at Amaryllis Hotel. The Programme is a science-based health profession that is client-centred and focuses on promoting health and well-being through occupations. It is a four-year programme with its first cohort of 20 students in their foundation year.
