#CIMMYT, in partnership with the Tanzania Agricultural Research Institute (#TARI), the Alliance of Bioversity International, and #CIAT, organized strategic meetings across Arusha, Dodoma, and Dar es Salaam to drive varietal turnover for dryland crops like sorghum, beans, and groundnuts. Stakeholders, including farmers, processors, and traders, discussed how market dynamics and seed systems drive adoption of resilient crop varieties, emphasizing demand, key breeding traits, and the need for quality seeds, education, and youth involvement to meet Tanzania's food needs. Why this matters? ✔️ Stakeholder Empowerment: By providing access to market intelligence and innovations, CIMMYT is equipping local actors to become drivers of adoption for resilient crop varieties. ✔️ Market and Production Opportunities: Shared insights enable a unified approach to market access, boosting crop adoption and supporting Tanzania's aim for increased production by 2030. ✔️ Youth Engagement: With youth comprising half of Tanzania’s population, promoting agricultural practices among this demographic is central to sustainable food security. #AVISA #ACCELERATE
