We are thrilled to share a video highlight of the recently concluded Chief Integrity & Governance Officer Symposium 2024 (“CIGO Symposium 2024”).   This impactful event, which we co-organised with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (“MACC”) and supported by UEM Group Berhad, saw the participation of around 200 Chief Integrity & Governance Officers (“CIGO”) from various statutory bodies, GLICs, GLCs, and private sectors.   The theme of the CIGO Symposium 2024, “Penguatkuasaan Integriti: Cabaran dan Usaha Penambahbaikan,” was specially curated to focus on the enforcement aspects of the integrity and compliance agenda through the unique perspectives of regulatory and enforcement bodies.   We were honored to host three distinguished speakers who explored different aspects of the theme, including compliance and enforcement initiatives for Small and Medium Enterprises, strategies to prevent bid rigging cartels, and the national risk assessment framework in alignment with the National Anti-Corruption Strategy 2024-2028.   Our heartfelt thanks to:   i)     Puan Norhaiza Jemon, Director of Corporate Compliance, Companies Commission of Malaysia;   ii)    Encik Iskandar Ismail, Chief Executive Officer, Malaysia Competition Commission; and   iii)   Encik Mohd Fuad Arshad, Director, Financial Intelligence & Enforcement, Bank Negara Malaysia,   for their invaluable contributions as guest speakers.     The highlight of the symposium was the launch of Khazanah’s publication, “Achieving Adequate Procedures for Small & Medium Enterprises: Khazanah Perspectives”, alongside MACC’s own publication, “Koleksi Amalan Baik Inisiatif Pencegahan Rasuah, Integriti dan Tatakelola, Unit Integriti dan Governans”. These were officially launched by Datuk Seri Norazlan Mohd Razali, Deputy Chief Commissioner, MACC.     The publication is available in an e-book version at Khazanah's website at https://lnkd.in/ghcAMAg7     We hope the symposium successfully showcased the close collaboration between enforcement bodies like MACC and commercial organisations in promoting integrity and anti-corruption, in line with our national agenda.

We are pleased to announce the launch of our new publication, "Achieving Adequate Procedures for Small and Medium Enterprises: Khazanah Perspective," at the Annual CIGO Convention 2024. We were honoured to have MACC Deputy Commissioner, Datuk Seri Norazlan Mohd Razali as our guest of honour. This publication addresses the impact of Section 17A of the MACC Act on companies, particularly SMEs, and provides guidance on implementing "Adequate Procedures" to mitigate potential criminal liabilities. As stated by our Managing Director, Dato’ Amirul Feisal Wan Zahir, during the convention: "Today, we launch this book to share our self-developed methodology, tried and tested on our SMEs for creating and implementing their own Organizational Anti-Corruption Plan ("OACP"). We hope it guides more companies to build their anti-corruption initiatives, contributing to better governance and enhanced integrity in the industry. Supporting the MADANI Economy’s aspirations to ‘raise the floor’ and to develop excellent human capital, we are committed to driving these intellectual capital efforts. We hope this book will benefit integrity practitioners in Malaysia and impact companies beyond just financial aspects. This publication is available in an e-book version at Khazanah's website at https://lnkd.in/ghcAMAg7

Can artificial intelligence (AI) be both a threat and a solution to tackling cyber crimes? As AI advances, businesses face increasingly sophisticated attacks, demanding stronger and more proactive cybersecurity practices. On 18 June 2024, Khazanah, in collaboration with Asia School of Business, hosted a session on “The Future of Cybersecurity with AI.” Over 150 board members and management teams from Khazanah and its portfolio companies and participants from GLICs, regulators, and GLCs attended this event. This wasn't your average security talk – it was a glimpse into the future! Prof. Sanjay Sarma from ASB discussed AI advancements in cybersecurity. Kate Healy spoke on cultivating a cybersecurity culture, and Ir. Dr.Megat Zuhairy Megat Tajuddin covered the Malaysia Cybersecurity Bill 2024 and its impact on businesses in Malaysia. A panel featuring Michael Heaney, Kjeld Stipsen, and Nadarashnaraj Sargunaraj explored global AI cybersecurity trends, the talent gap, and the roles of Boards and Management in cybersecurity. This enriching session equipped attendees with valuable insights into the evolving cybersecurity landscape. Thank you to the speakers and participants for contributing to a secure digital future!

A productive working trip for a closer look at developments of the semiconductor industry, following from the GEAR-uP Semicon Workshop in May, for stronger collaboration between GoM ministries, agencies, GLICs and private sector players. The two-day trip, from 21June, highlighted clear wins as we drive this agenda to fortify Malaysia’s position in the semiconductor game: Intel Corporation Malaysia operates its largest IC design facility in ASEAN out of Penang. They run a 14k-strong workforce, of which almost half are engineers. Very impressed to learn that they have been running 100% on RE for 3 years – an early driver of Malaysia’s energy transition. Lam Manufacturing Malaysia operates the country’’s first wafer fabrication equipment manufacturing plant in Batu Kawan Industrial Park. This is Nasdaq-listed Lam Research 's largest globally, essentially putting cutting-edge research and technology for advanced microchips right in our own backyard. Germany’s Infineon Technologies is in Kulim Hi-Tech Park, where it operates the world’s largest 200mm SiC (silicon carbine) Power Fab. Infineon employs >15k people, 97% M’sians. Here we also spoke about expanding RE generation capacity. In line with the Ekonomi MADANI framework, industry progress must be powered sustainably. Very interested to see home-grown high-tech firm ViTrox Corporation Berhad in my hometown of Penang. Their R&D activities on precision smart facing solutions to drive higher quality of electrical components were particularly impressive. Also highly commendable - their initiatives to give back by providing industry-driven technical programmes to M’sian students. Apart from companies along the value chain, this visit had insights into the role of enabling agencies such as CREST. Their R&D work with leading industry members have amassed 178 collaborative projects through government grants, benefiting >10k E&E domain experts and researchers. A final stop to complete the whole ecosystem view, was the Penang Skills Development Centre. Since 1989, the PDSC has driven a tripartite model involving industry, academia and government, to develop fit-for-industry talent. PDSC has a stellar bank of partnerships with >250 industry members globally and >270,000 participants to date. Very happy with this trip – it was constructive and confidence-boosting that we are on a positive trajectory despite recent news about a slide in the nation’s competitiveness index. The proof points on the ground are tangible, and the impact will speak for itself in due course. #GEARuP #EkonomiMADANI #RaisetheCeiling Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) Khazanah Nasional Berhad EPF Malaysia PETRONAS KWAP Malaysia Permodalan Nasional Berhad
