About us

Mondesa Youth Opportunities Trust (MYO) is a well-known and intensive after-school education program in the Mondesa Township in Swakopmund. Our focus is on learners with potential but little support at home. At MYO 120 learners ranging from Grade 4 to 8 receive extra instruction in English, Mathematics, Reading, Life Skills, Computers, Sports and Music. We cultivate positive thinking and high self-esteem to lay the path for a future generation of forward-thinking Namibian leaders. Our aim is not only to enhance the education of our promising learners but also to guide them into being responsive, confident and well-rounded individuals. As we are a non-profit organization our learners participate in our programme free of charge. We rely exclusively on donations to sustain our operations. Therefore, we appeal for support and donations from our community and the wider world of our friends.

We had an amazing opportunity to meet the team from geobus_sta from the University of St Andrews and representatives of Ministry of Mines and Energy, The Geological Survey of Namibia together with BGR (Federal Institute for geosciences and Natural Resources). They have been providing a Geo-Science outreach program for Namibian schools, promoting geo-sciences. Our grade 8 students did a few topics such as: Plate tectonics, volcanos, earthquakes and mining. #mondesayouthopportunities #geobus #standrewsuniversity #ministryofminesandenergy #geosciences

We had a visit today from the chairman Carl Pesat of the Deon Hotto Foundation. This month we wrapped up our 20th-anniversary celebrations with a memorable series of events. We kicked off with an amazing dinner in the dunes, followed by formal celebrations at MYO. The day was filled with entertainment from our talented learners, including recorder and marimba performances, cultural showcases of our learners and the African Vocals. We listened to inspiring speeches from MYO leaders, current learners, and numerous alumni. The celebrations ended on a high note with delicious food shared by all. It was truly a wonderful occasion! How proud we are to celebrate this milestone! Thanks to our sponsors, donors, supporters and MYO friends at large. We could not have done it without you!
