Communication for Development (C4D) is a powerful tool for creating meaningful, sustainable change in communities. But for its potential to be fully realized, we must come together to understand and explore the unique needs, values, and beliefs of each community we serve. By designing well-thought-out C4D strategies, we can foster lasting impact and drive positive change, transforming lives one community at a time. #ARDAClassroom #ARDAFridayLearningSession #SustainableDevelopment #CommunityDevelopment #PositiveChange

About us
ARDA – Development Communications Inc. is a leading development communication, non-profit organization headquartered in Lagos, Nigeria. Previously known as the African Radio Drama Association (ARDA) (1996-2017), the organization has effectively communicated social and behaviour change for over twenty years. ARDA-DCI, building on two decades of development communication experience across different media channels, has become an innovative, enterprising and vibrant development communication institution that produces creative, culturally relevant, impactful, high-quality content for sustainable development in Nigeria and across Africa. At ARDA-DCI, we use storytelling, entertainment-education approaches and research to design efficacious materials for dissemination on traditional and new media platforms. We produce radio and video programs, viral video skits, podcasts, print materials, mobile applications, and live stage performances that effectively communicate sustainable development messages to audiences and key beneficiaries in a way that is relevant, acceptable and accessible. We also believe strongly in inter-personal communication, organizing and engaging in live and virtual community engagement activities to gain a better understanding of the issues faced by stakeholders in our programs. We utilize participatory program design and management methodologies that put community members and potential beneficiaries at the forefront of the communication program we design, implement, manage, monitor and evaluate throughout the lifespan of each of our projects. We prioritize advocacy, community dialogue and outreaches organized and led by the community members themselves to promote ownership of each project and ensure long-term sustainability.

The smile on the faces of these new Adire business owners says it all! As a women-led organisation, women empowerment is core to us at ARDA We recently supported @shimmers_services in empowering 16 women in the Oworoshoki community, kosofe LGA, Lagos State. The women were trained on how to make cultural fabrics popularly known as "Adire". The training included financial literacy and business management to help them build a profitable business. At the end of the training, the women were presented with start-up materials to ease the set-up of their businesses. As an organisation, we will continue to make impacts and improve livelihoods in communities where we work. Congratulations to all the participants, we wish them the best in their businesses. #ARDAImpact #WomenEmpowerment #OworoshokiCommunity #AdireEntrepreneurs #FinancialLiteracy #ShimmersServices #SustainabilityInAction #WomenInBusiness #EnterpriseDevelopment

The fight for the share of voice is real. Our messages can be lost in the noise of the modern world. So, you need to be able to capture attention. This is where entertainment education (EE) comes in. We should always aspire to entertain our audience while still passing on the message. Too much in one direction – entertainment or education – means you could lose your message or audience. #ARDAClassroom #DevelopmentCommunication #EntertainmentEducation

The ARDA team was well represented at the roundtable with media executive for Gender Equality and Women's Empowerment in Nigeria. The program organized by UN Women with support from the @Canada_Nigeria. The event had in attendance media attendance from across the country and national media organisations were also present. The roundtable had a rich conversation on how the media can support Women’s political participation and there were resolutions by the media executive to executive programs that promotes women's involvement in politics. We believe that in 2027, we will have more women elected into political offices. #UNwomenng #Canada_nigeria #WomeninPolitics #WomenLeaderShip #MediaExecutives #RoundTableDiscussion #RoundTableDiscussiononGenderEquality #GenderEquality #WomenEmpowerment #MediaForChange #EmpoweringWomen #ElectingWomen #Nigeria2027 #SupportWomensPolitics #GenderEqualityNigeria

As part of the activities of the peer-to-peer learning project, the ARDA team accompanied the @cataicenter team to the field as they implement activities towards the close-out of Strengthening Women’s Participation for Broader Peacebuilding Initiatives. The team visited the Mandarari Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) Camp and Konduga Local Government Office. This hands-on experience was pivotal in our peer-to-peer learning journey, emphasizing the value of direct engagement with communities and local government. We're delighted to announce the Local Government Chairman's support for our ongoing skill-building and empowerment initiatives. His endorsement speaks to the impact of our collaborative efforts. This project is funded by @unwomen and @wphfund, the experience has been enlightening, underscoring the value of practical engagement in achieving meaningful and lasting change. #ARDA #CATAICollaboration #NGODevelopment #DevelopmentOrganization #CommunicationDevelopment #PeerLearning #StrongerTogether #VisibilityBoost

Last week, we had an incredible community visit to Dusuman Lawanti and Dusuman Hausari at Jere LGA, Borno State, with 120 passionate participants, including our dedicated WCDG members. The women shared their inspiring journeys with the Women's Empowerment for Leadership and Economic Advancement (WE LEAP) project with the invited community members, they showcased their beautiful handmade products like dresses, throw pillows, bed sheets, table covers, and coasters. It was a privilege to speak about the WE LEAP project and emphasize the importance of supporting women's participation in leadership and investing in the girl child. Together, we can nurture future leaders who will uplift our communities. Together, we're making a difference, one empowered woman at a time! #ARDA #EmpowerWomen #WELEAP #CommunityLeadership #InvestInGirls #WomenInLeadership #BornoState

Women are celebrated everyday as they keep shattering the glass ceilings in their various endeavours. But today, the International Women’s Day, we celebrate the journey of how far women have come taking up leadership positions and contributing to the progress of different sectors of the society. Despite progress made, we're far from the mark, because women are still faced with limitations that prevents them harnessing their potential. The IWD theme for this year; "Invest in women: accelerate progress" is another way we remind everyone that promoting gender equality through women empowerment is one way to address many challenges that face our world today. To every woman out striving to change the status quo, you're loved, seen, and celebrated.
