About us
BOWDI is the acronym for Borno Women Development Initiative, a movement to serve as means of educating, enlightening and training of our Girls an d women, exposing them to social environment as developing society. There is no doubt about the fact that most Borno Girls/Women are at the moment in a state of agony, vulnerable to various societal problems and life risks. This is as a result of the difficult living as a result of current insecurity activities across the state, which has subjected them to living randomly at camps as refugees. Leaving them without education or any of its relevance. This problem as widely seen, has no concrete solution for the time been, and we fear it can further lead our Girls/Women into a hard way of life. And various dangers especially as they are fragile and thus, needs any form of help to keep them safe. The founding of this movement is to safeguard the image and develop our Girls/Women, Salvage and build their future to add to the economy and reduce the level of illiteracy/ignorance in our communities, especially those affected by the insurgency. This is a course for everyone to put a collective effort , to ensure we help those victims grow a healthy and strong societies. BOWDI is therefore, focused on creating awareness in Girls/Women to set up an unbreakable state and Nation at wide, starting from classroom education to the girl-child, health issues discussion and skills training for our teenage girls/Women. There is importance in Noting that, this is a voluntary, Non-Profitable, Non-governmental and not a political organization, Strictly focused on developing Girls/Women for the benefit of the younger generations.

#BOWDI, with the support of @morellakilah @zegcawis , visited flood-affected camps in Maiduguri to distribute dignity kits to women and girls, ensuring they have essential supplies during this critical time. Alongside the distribution, we held sessions on menstrual hygiene and gender-based violence, empowering these women with knowledge and protection. Together, we’re not just providing relief, but restoring dignity and hope. #FloodRelief #WomenEmpowerment #GBV #BOWDI #Maiduguri #RestoringHope

"Today, on World Refugee Day, I want to honor the resilience and strength of refugees around the world. I've had the privilege of working with refugees through my role at Borno Women Development Initiative, providing support services for survivors of gender-based violence. Their stories of hope, courage, and determination in the face of adversity have left an indelible mark on my heart. Despite facing unimaginable challenges, they continue to dream, to hope, and to rebuild their lives. Let us recognize the humanity and dignity of all refugees, and work towards creating a world where everyone has a safe haven to call home. Let us also celebrate the contributions, skills, and perspectives that refugees bring to their host communities. As we acknowledge the struggles of refugees worldwide, let us recommit to standing in solidarity with them and working towards a more just and compassionate world for all. #WorldRefugeeDay #RefugeeSupport #GBVServices"

Our interventions help humanitarian partners bridge operational gaps! 🎯 In #Nigeria, iMMAP Inc. has identified gaps in partners’ presence and the coverage of the Joint Market Monitoring Initiative (JMMI) implemented across local government areas (LGAs) in Borno, Adamawa, and Yobe (BAY) states. 🗺️ This report📊 is based on the maps we developed for the Cash Working Group in the #northeast region using data shared by 20 JMMI partners including Première Urgence Internationale. The information products present an evidence-based assessment of the implementation efforts and pinpoints: 📭 Gaps in JMMI coverage 💰 Funding limitations 🤝Partners’ funding status ❗Need for resources reallocation for a more impactful operation.
