How Do Kids See Other Kids with Special Needs? We believe in a world where all children feel loved and included. Children are naturally curious. Sometimes, they might not understand why another child looks or acts differently. This can make them avoid playing with these special children. At Ilera'a Mi, we think that's where education comes in! By teaching children about different developmental abilities, we can: . Build empathy and understanding: Help kids see past differences and make friends. . Reduce hurtful behaviours: Show them how to be kind and include everyone in play. . Create a safer world for everyone: A world where children with special needs feel accepted. ----------------------------------------------- How can we make a difference? Open Conversations: Talk to your children about disabilities and celebrate diversity. Inclusive Activities: Choose games and toys that can be enjoyed by everyone, regardless of ability. By teaching kids about being kind and understanding, but it starts with you, parents, teachers and guardians! Join us in spreading awareness and promoting health education for all children! @ilearami@gmail.com Share in the #comment how you handled your child's/wards' experience with special needs kids. Promoting health knowledge, skills and hygienic behavior through health education in public primary schools.
About us
We strive to ensure that every child/pupil regardless of their socio-economic status and geographic location has access to quality health and hygienic education fostering the child's educational, mental and psychological progress in turn giving them a healthy future. We promote and improve health education by creating health curricula, training, workshops, and other innovative solutions that target children's health. Overview Ìlera'a Mi is an initiative that aims to drive health education in public primary schools. To achieve this we are creating a year-long health curriculum, organizing training/workshop sessions for the health club members, and providing instructional materials that would aid the health clubs in educating their respective schools. This solution would encourage health education, creating better health choices and decisions (amongst children in low-income communities), leading to a hygienic and healthier lifestyle. This would ensure that every child has a better insight into their health and wellness, and be enlightened about their health, safety, and hygienic practices resulting in a healthier community. While working in collaboration with various stakeholders and various health club staff and pupils in the locality. Vision: Every child should have an excellent knowledge of health, safety, and hygiene practices. Mission: To empower young children in underserved communities who would move the action for quality health-care safety and good hygienic practices within their local communities. Our volunteers, Ruth-Sarah Akpan, olaleye olatunde, and Bright Omovigho, conducted an engaging and informative session on health and hygiene for a group of enthusiastic children. They didn't just talk, they made it interactive by incorporating fun activities. Here's a video proof of that. 😄 Here at Ilera'a Mi we believe in giving young minds the knowledge they need to stay healthy and confident. #HealthEducation #HygieneAwareness #IleraaMi #CommunityImpact UNICEF Google Health HealthEducation For African Child Foundation Africa Matters Initiative

Calling all teachers! Looking for fresh ideas to boost emotional intelligence in your classroom? We're here to deliver! Dive into the fun-filled activities that made our mental health awareness outreach fun and engaging for the learners, and watch those social-emotional skills blossom. ◻ 𝐄𝐦𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐬: Students acted out emotions like "happy," "nervous," and "frustrated" through body language and facial expressions. Guessing classmates' emotions fostered empathy and understanding, while laughter filled the room. ◻ 𝐁𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐂𝐚𝐥𝐦: We taught simple breathing exercises, like counting to ten while inhaling and exhaling deeply. This technique provided students with a quick tool for managing anxiety, anger, or fear in everyday situations. ◻ 𝐃𝐫𝐚𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐌𝐲𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟: Students reflected on their feelings and wrote them down. Then they drew themselves, expressing those emotions. This introspective activity encouraged self-awareness and understanding of the "why" behind their feelings. ◻ 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐥-𝐋𝐢𝐟𝐞 𝐒𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐨𝐬: We discussed common scenarios students face, like arguing with friends or feeling overwhelmed at school. We brainstormed healthy coping mechanisms for managing emotions in these situations, equipping them with practical skills. Want to learn more? Share this post and join the conversation! We're always happy to share resources and tips with fellow educators. #MentalHealthAwareness #IleraAMi #BuildingBridges #EmpoweringChildren #EmotionalIntelligence

We are excited to share our latest Update! Ilera's Mi held a mental health awareness outreach at Christ Church School Odosenlu, for primary 4, 5, and 6. This program aimed to equip young minds with the understanding to navigate their emotions healthily. And guess what? Our impact was remarkable! To ensure the surveys were engaging and appropriate, we designed them with visuals to captivate the learners. The questions were crafted to delve into their mental health through situational inquiries, fostering a deeper understanding. Additionally, we presented the survey in Yoruba, the native language of the learners, enhancing relatability and cultural resonance. 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝒑𝒓𝒆-𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒑𝒐𝒔𝒕-𝒔𝒖𝒓𝒗𝒆𝒚 𝒂𝒏𝒂𝒍𝒚𝒔𝒆𝒔 𝒓𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒂𝒍 𝒔𝒊𝒈𝒏𝒊𝒇𝒊𝒄𝒂𝒏𝒕 𝒔𝒉𝒊𝒇𝒕𝒔 𝒊𝒏 𝒂𝒕𝒕𝒊𝒕𝒖𝒅𝒆𝒔 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒃𝒆𝒉𝒂𝒗𝒊𝒐𝒓𝒔: 🌼 Forgiveness soared: While 37 children initially said they'd forgive a friend who wronged them, that number jumped to a unanimous YES after the program! This signifies a growing understanding of the importance of #empathy and reconciliation. 🌼 Anger took a nosedive: The number of children admitting to hurting others when angry plummeted from 9 to 4. This indicates a developing ability to express frustration constructively. 🌼 Celebrating others' success: The program fostered a supportive environment, with 36 children now expressing happiness when a friend gets an A, compared to none before. This shift promotes #kindness and reduces unhealthy competition. We are grateful to our volunteer Jaiyesimi Ayomipo and her colleague Mark Akor for hosting and supporting us. We're committed to empowering our learners with knowledge on healthy living, including mental health.
