𝗖𝗼𝗔𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗮 𝗔𝗴𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴: 𝗖𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘀𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗳𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗮 𝗱𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺 🌱 On today's #WorldFoodDay, we would like to spotlight CoAmana, one of our partner organizations of the Kaduna Women Economic Empowerment Project, for training smallholder farmers in enhancing market activities through the AMANA digital platform. Through this platform, the farmers are able to connect to larger markets and ensure fair prices for their produce. 𝗦𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗳𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘆 𝗮𝗻 𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗹𝘆 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗶𝗻. Through the Kaduna Women Economic Empowerment Project, CoAmana helps smallholder farmers to scale up their market operations by introducing new features of the AMANA platform such as Buy Now, Pay Later. New POS systems and agent stations were also established to make sure the agents—especially the women—have everything they need to succeed. "I learned how to transfer funds and transact business digitally. The Kafanchan cluster of our Community Health Entrepreneurs (CHEs) recently took action by conducting an outreach at Yakowa market in Kafanchan, Kaduna State. 🌍 Their mission? To make healthcare more accessible, bringing medications directly to the people who need them most. Story of Progress: Training and Onboarding 103 New Community Health Entrepreneurs From September 16th to 21st, 2024, Healthy Entrepreneurs Nigeria, a joint venture between Aha! and Healthy Entrepreneurs, with funding from the Bayer Foundation, took a major step in transforming healthcare access in Kaura and Jema’a LGAs. Through the Kaduna WEE Project, 103 new Community Health Entrepreneurs (CHEs) were trained and onboarded, increasing the network to 190 in the region. The six-day program, attended by notable dignitaries like the Honorable Commissioner of Kafanchan Municipal Authority, focused on equipping CHEs with both clinical and entrepreneurial skills. With starter kits, smartphones, and comprehensive training, these entrepreneurs are ready to impact their communities by offering sustainable healthcare services. Their work will serve as a cornerstone in reshaping rural healthcare delivery. "Empowering women economically is one of the strongest ways to improve health outcomes in rural areas," said Dr. Pamela Ajayi, President of the Healthcare Federation of Nigeria, during her keynote address yesterday at the Kaduna WEE Project's stakeholders meeting. She stressed how women’s access to financial resources directly impacts their ability to afford healthcare, better nutrition, and education on health issues. Yesterday, the Kaduna WEE Project hosted an important stakeholders meeting at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja, themed Economic and Social Impact of Devaluation and Inflation on Women Economic Empowerment. The discussions focused on how current economic challenges are affecting women, particularly those in agriculture, and explored practical solutions for empowering them.
