About us

NLNG was incorporated as a limited liability company on May 17, 1989, to harness Nigeria's vast natural gas resources and produce Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) and Natural Gas Liquids (NGLs) for export. We operate from five offices spread across different locations. We have the liquefaction plant and the bulk of our technical personnel in Bonny Island and Port Harcourt in Rivers State Nigeria. Most of our corporate and administrative staff are based in Port Harcourt at the Corporate Head Office (CHO), Abuja and Lagos, all in Nigeria, and London. The company has a wholly-owned subsidiary, Bonny Gas Transport (BGT) Limited, that provides ship chartering and operating services for NLNG. Another wholly-owned subsidiary, Nigeria LNG Ship Manning Limited (NSML) provides personnel for all of NLNG’s Shipping Vessels. Our LNG is delivered to an ever-expanding list of ports in cities around the world. Our vision is to be "a globally competitive LNG Company, helping to build a better Nigeria."

I recently attended the NLNG Science Quiz competition for secondary schools in Rivers State, and I was impressed by the calibre of young minds we had in our midst. The competition has consistently proven to be a platform for identifying and nurturing exceptional talents, addressing contemporary issues, fostering a culture of innovation and problem-solving. The fact that we've had three different champions in the last three years is a testament to the high level of competition and the depth of knowledge among our students. This year’s focus on Artificial Intelligence was particularly inspiring. By introducing our young ones to cutting-edge concepts, we are equipping them to tackle the challenges of tomorrow. It’s heartening to see young minds envisioning how to leverage technology for societal good. I was particularly delighted by the performance of Amarachi Patience and Ejit Williams, students from Government Secondary School, Oyigbo, who emerged as champions. Their victory which is a powerful message of the potential of the girl child in STEM fields, is a testament to their hard work and dedication. The introduction of an exhibition component to this year's competition was a brilliant addition. Witnessing innovative projects showcased by these young minds was truly exciting. It’s clear that Nigeria’s future is in capable hands. Initiatives like the NLNG Science Quiz Competition are essential in building a robust talent pipeline and contributing to national development. Many thanks to our partners – The Rivers State Ministry of Education and the Science Teachers Association of Nigeria (STAN) for their continued collaboration. #STEM #NLNG #AbetterNigeria #technology

Tribute to Emeritus Professor Ladipo Ayodeji Banjo, CON, FNAL, NNOM, JP NLNG Honours the Legacy of a Literary Luminary... The late Emeritus Professor Emeritus Ladipo Ayodeji Banjo holds an esteemed and unparalleled place in the annals of Nigerian Literature and Letters. His profound influence on education in Nigeria and his legendary contributions to The Nigeria Prize for Literature, the prestigious literary award in Africa, are beyond words. Joining the Prize administration in 2004 while serving as President of the Nigeria Academy of Letters, Emeritus Professor Banjo held several pivotal roles. He served as a judge, Chairman of the panel of judges, and a member of the administrative committee for the Literature Prize. Later, as Chairman of the Prize’s Advisory Board, he played a crucial role in shaping and elevating the Prize to its prominent status in the Continent. As the longest-serving collaborator, Emeritus Professor Banjo earned his place as one of the founding fathers of the Prize and later in 2021 as the first ever distinguished life-time patron of the Nigeria Prize for Literature. Today, as Emeritus Professor Banjo is laid to rest, the Board, Management, and Staff of Nigeria LNG Limited honour an academic titan, an inspiring university teacher, a distinguished scholar of the English Language, a mentor of professors, an astute administrator, a polyglot, a language expert, a respected consultant, and a gentleman of the highest order.
