From Rough Beginnings to Remarkable Triumphs: My Journey at UNILAG Starting at University of Lagos came with unexpected challenges. On my first day, I lost a sponsor. This sudden loss shook my family and made my early days rough. Attending top tutorials was key, but I couldn’t afford them. I relied on fellowship groups like CACYOF UNILAG, the Environmental Sciences Faculty Fellowship, and the MTN Nigeria library, where I accessed PDFs using a card reader. Navigating academics was tough. My first semester ended with a 3.00 GPA, which felt crushing. But I resolved to learn and improve. A turning point came when the Holy Spirit nudged me to join a group of high flyers. With their guidance, I aced a course for the first time, ending my second semester with a 3.44 GPA and a 3.22 CGPA. Over time, this group—Chinonso Agoha, Abolaji Deborah, Emmanuel Rotimi, Oyindamola, Moyosoreoluwa Adigun Esther Okeniyi —became a family. Their support and teamwork shaped my academic and personal growth. Chinonso, in particular, was a selfless leader, providing materials, food, and accommodation like a one-man scholarship fund. The journey wasn’t easy. My course demanded rigorous work, incorporating Quantity Surveying, surveying, Civil, Mechanical, and Systems Engineering. But God’s grace guided me. By my final lap, I ranked fifth in my class by the first semester of 500-level. With determination and divine guidance I finished as the Third Best Graduating Student with a 4.38 CGPA, alongside friends Chinonso (Best Graduating Student) and Deborah (Best Female Graduate). I owe my success to: God whose grace made all the difference, my family; especially my mother’s unwavering support, Friends and classmates, who uplifted me. Fellowship/volunteer groups Team Illuminate, National Association of Building Students (UNILAG CHAPTER), The Nigerian Institute of Building (NIOB), and I would also like to appreciate my late uncle Emmanuel Oigbochie and Chukwu Princess for their support. Today, I am proud to stand as a Graduate Builder (GMNIOB) with a story that proves with faith, hard work, and a strong support system, no challenge is insurmountable. Key Lesson: Never walk alone Liverpool Football Club , Build your circle trust the process, and keep God at the center. #Gratitude #Faith #Perseverance #UNILAG #BuildingTheFuture #ClassOf2023/24

💡📚💚 Advancing Environmental Education in protecting freshwater resources Finally - it’s a WRAP with the Project COR Green Education program with support of Global Changemakers I led my team to successfully implement the Green Education program on equipping the younger generation with relevant knowledge on building a culture of eco-consciousness for conservation of freshwater resources against plastic pollution in Nigerian communities. Project COR has been engaging school students and communities in Ogun state over the past few years but I saw the important need to engage the communities in Oyo state and Lagos state Outcomes of Green Education; 💡Engaged 102 students and 11 teachers on proper waste management, freshwater conservation efforts and general environmental sustainability 💡Reached 9 schools in 3 different states in Nigeria (Oyo, Ogun and Lagos) 💡Distributed over 120 copies of the Ecobook “The Loud Cry of Ogun River” to the students and school libraries 💡Engaged in various fun activities to keep the learning process alive 💡Deployed baseline and endline surveys in understanding the students’ level of understanding for impact assessment 💡All refreshments were packaged in ecofriendly materials 📌 The project was an interesting and amazing experience that enlightened the students on the interconnectedness of Ogun River, Rivers in Oyo and Lagos Lagoon which empties in the Atlantic Ocean and addresses the importance of conserving freshwater resources which has direct impact on the marine ecosystem. The students are now confident in taking actions to protect their environment. I appreciate the support of Global Changemakers for making this possible and the incredible work of the volunteers and partners @young_and_ecofriendly @climateactionclubafrica Zeroplastic Strawcommunity Plogging Nigeria Team Illuminate - you all are the best!🥰💚🌐 #globalchangemakers #freshwaterconservation #environmentaleducation #educationforall #youthleadership #youthaction #qualityeducation
