The University of Calabar Youth Friendly Hub is excited to share Highlights from her UNICEF’s ADOKIT Circle Meetings, aimed at supporting adolescents and young people in our community. As students, we often face overwhelming stress and challenges that can make us vulnerable to mental health stressors. The ADOKIT Circle Meetings are designed to nurture our resilience, build life competency skills, and provide opportunities for personal growth and development. Our UNICEF ADOKIT-trained Community Facilitators, Who are our volunteers are leading these impactful circle meetings.Through engaging activities and discussions, we learn 10 key life skills, build self-esteem, develop coping mechanisms, and discover ways to give back to our society. We extend a special invitation to all adolescents and young people in the university community to join us in this transformative journey. In solidarity, we actively participated in events commemorating World AIDS Day, a global campaign held annually on December 1st. We embarked on a road walk to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS and collaborated with AIDS Healthcare Foundation to conduct HIV testing. Our community presented an engaging drama and dance performance, and our peer educators engaged the public on FAD FM, highlighting the importance of World AIDS Day and providing essential information about HIV/AIDS.
