We’re excited to announce that the #French version of the #AflaTeen curriculum has been officially launched! After the #English and #Spanish versions, we are happy to include a new language to our revised AflaTeen curriculum. The two stages of AflaTeen focus on different #Teenage groups, their needs and diverse abilities. The AflaTeen programme is at the core of our initiative; in 2023, it was the second most-used programme in our range globally. In Francophone Africa, almost 70% of our partner uses AflaTeen and the curriculum has shown incredible results throughout the years: - In an impact study conducted in #Cameroon, results found that 89% of students who underwent the #FinancialEducation programme were now aware of human rights and responsibilities; and 77% of them had established a saving goal. - A Randomized Control Trial (RCT) conducted in #BurkinaFaso, shows that the programme improved the learners' entrepreneurial attitudes, with 71% of them believing that they had the capacity to manage their own social enterprise. Stay tuned for the upcoming translations in Russian and Arabic! Do you want the new AflaTeen curriculum in French and you are already #Partner? Globally, millions of #Children face inequalities. Empowering them with #Social & #FinancialEducation can achieve #SDGs.
Over ons
Empowering Tomorrow's Entrepreneurs with Social and Financial Skills for a Fairer Future Aflatoun International offers social and financial education to 10.5 million children and young people worldwide, empowering them to make positive change for a sustainable world. We empower children and young people by providing them with the tools to run their own social and financial enterprises, like our very own success story Kojo's Bikes. Our young entrepreneur decided to turn his life around with one simple idea: renting out his bike and saving the money for his education. Kojo's business has quadrupled since. He now has four bikes and plans on having bike shops all across Africa one day. There are many Kojo's out there so, in order to equip them all with the 21st-century skills, we create high-quality curricula, for different age groups. These are implemented by local partners and can be contextualised to local needs and specific circumstances, like youth employment, girls' empowerment and peacebuilding. Our educational material proves to be effective: it is one of the most well-researched life skills and financial education programmes globally and has been increasingly recognised as successful and innovative by The Brookings Institution and Harvard Graduate School of Education alike. You can get the full story on how we positively affect the next generation on www.aflatoun.org

#Blog | By changing the mental images or feelings we associate with certain behaviours or objects, we can shift our emotional responses and, ultimately, our actions. But what does this have to do with #Spending, #Savings and #FinancialEducation? In this new blog by Zunara Nauman, she explains the Neuro-Linguistic Programming concept of “changing internal representation" and how this connects to what triggers spending habits in our everyday life, and what we can do change our internal representations to modify our behaviour towards impulsive purchasing. Don't miss the interesting #Insights and read the article here: https://lnkd.in/euarKhtS

At Aflatoun, saving is more than a skill – it’s a step toward empowerment. This #WorldSavingsDay, we’re highlighting real evidence on the importance of savings and the impact of early #FinancialEducation in shaping resilient, future-ready young people. Last year, over 3.3 million children and youth across 100+ countries, through our local partners, were not only taught to save but actively began building their own #Savings. Why is savings so essential? For #Young people, it builds a foundation of security, boosts self-confidence, and creates future opportunities. Studies show that early savings habits are linked to improved #FinancialManagement in adulthood, opening doors to further #Education, #Entrepreneurship, and financial resilience. 🔵 In partnership with Reach Out To Asia / Education Above All Foundation in #Indonesia, the AflaTeen+ programme increased the ratio of students who have savings by 35%. In #Nepal, 64% of students who participated in the AflaTeen+ programme saved money while only 55.7% of students saved money without the programme. 🔵 During the projects delivered thanks to SAS-P / Sint Antonius Stichting – in #BurkinaFaso 84% of AflaTeen+ programme participants saved money compared to 67% in the control group (https://lnkd.in/erbqjKKn); in Cameroon, 73% of AflaTeen+ programme participants saved money compared to 56% in the control group (https://lnkd.in/eqeb8NtK) 🔵 The benefits of financial education extend to whole families as well. During our project with The Human Safety Net held in #Italy, we saw a positive shift among parents, with savings rates rising from 40% to 48% after participating in the programme. Through these powerful results, Aflatoun continues to demonstrate that early #FinancialEducation drives meaningful change. Savings not only provide security but also foster confidence, opening doors to future opportunities for youth and their communities. 📚 We invite everyone—educators, policymakers, and community leaders—to join us in empowering youth to save and invest in their futures. Check out our Annual Report for more evidence (https://lnkd.in/dAqApnbq) and see how together, we’re creating a financially capable generation. #FinancialLiteracy #YouthSavings #EducationForAll #JoinTheMovement

Last week, Gabriella Sancisi, the Dutch ambassador to #Slovakia, visited Tehelná #Kindergarten during her tour of eastern Slovakia to meet with various organisations supported by the embassy. One of these organisations is Škola dokorán n.o. Wide Open School, the only partner part of the Aflatoun network in Slovakia. Tehelná Kindergarten successfully implements the AflaTot programme for children aged 3-6, demonstrating excellent results in Early #Social and #FinancialEducation for #SustainableDevelopment. This success is bolstered by the kindergarten's commitment to working closely with parents. The kindergarten not only piloted the first Aflatoun methodology in 2015 but also contributed to testing new activities in September 2024, with feedback that will shape the new methodologies for the whole network. Check out the #Video from the visit and the activities at the kindergarten: https://lnkd.in/e5V9Cqid

#VideoJournal | Today’s youth are confronted with a myriad of challenges, ranging from #ClimateChange and #Unemployment to political unrest and global pandemics. These factors exacerbate critical risk factors such as limited access to quality #Education and economic insecurity and they pose long-term vulnerabilities for young people, especially due to their exclusion from schooling and the lack of #Inclusive programmes that equip them with the skills to thrive socially and economically. That is why, together with Echidna Giving, Aflatoun decided to conduct a research project in #India and The #Gambia to assess the impact of social and #FinancialEducation integrated with core curricula subjects, with the primary goal of identifying the most effective learning approach for empowering young people. Now, a year after the implementation started, our partner ChildFund The Gambia has developed an inspiring video coverage of the objectives, activities and the #Impact of the project. Do you want to learn more about why financial literacy is essential to today's youths to acquire the 21st-century skills necessary to become responsible and informed citizens? #PartnerOfTheWeek | This week we highlight Hope of Family from #Rwanda! A passionate organisation with a strong understanding of the local needs and communities, Hope of Family aims to #BreakTheCycle of poverty through #Education for children and young adults. Their core activities are to provide school materials by ensuring that children from vulnerable families have access to necessary school supplies and enabling them to attend and succeed in school; and to help young people enrol in 1-year #VocationalEducation programmes to acquire practical skills and improve their #Employability. According to a survey they conducted in their community, 90% of households could not provide school materials to their children and 70% of parents did not engage in their children’s education. That is why they believe that #Social and #FinancialEducation is key to build resilient, self-reliant and informed citizens. They tell us the story of Kazemeze, a young student who found her talent in #Storytelling. Her performance captivated the audience, showcasing the growth and potential the programme helped unlock in her. Do you want to know more about Hope of Family? Read the blog: https://lnkd.in/eREqjXCB
