Education for Protection and Wellbeing (EPW) program brings together all #children actors to work for children’s development, growth and Protection. We tested it in two schools two years ago and it proofed to be very successful, hence, we scaled it up, adding 8 other schools in West Coast Region to the program under the project “Promoting Primary Education in 8 Schools” in West Coast Region funded by BMZ. That’s why #ChildFund organized two weeks training for teachers on Social and Emotional Learning and Self Protection. The key competencies for children in self protection covered include; 1. Children being able to identify their rights and responsibility. 2. Knowing safe and unsafe situations. 3. Identify networks of trusted adults. 4. Assertiveness. 5. Reporting mechanism (knowing when and how to report) Great job Bakary Seedy Dampha (Buba) and Team! #education #protection #empowerment

These school #children used to walk 6 - 7 kilometers to their school in Bafuloto, in the North Bank Region. But that’s no more, thanks to these bikes provided for them by ChildFund under the Zero Out Of School Children project funded by Education Above All Foundation through UNICEF Gambia, and being implemented by the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, The Gambia, ChildFund and EFANet Gambia. ChildFund pledged 3,000 bikes towards the project, and has so far delivered 1,500 to the ministry for onward distribution to the children who need them most. #educationforall #education #bikes

When children have access to learning materials, it contributes to their attainment of quality education. That's why ChildFund International working with its Local Partners in The Gambia provides learning materials to over 10,000 children annually at the start of each school year. As schools reopen this week, one of our Local Partners, Ding Ding-Ding Yiriwa Federation hands over learning materials to children in Kombo North and South districts. "I am no more worried when schools reopen because I know that my children will receive their back-to-school package from Ding-Ding Yiriwa Federation," says one of the parents of our children, Elizabeth, seen here smiling after receiving some books for her children.
